On the occasion of Isaac Hamlin's visit to Detroit, the
Arlazaroff Branch 37, J. N. W. Alliance which distin-
guished itself by raising $26,000, arranged a special meeting
to honor their chairman Morris Schaver who has presided
over the Gewerkshaften campaign for the last 13 years.
Under the chairmanship of N. Shumer the branch and
its work as well as its leadership were evaluated by Messrs.
H. Basin, D. Sislin, A. Myerowitz, H. Mondrey, H. Segal,
and P. Slomovitz. H. Mondrey presented the guest, I.
Hamlin, who is the national secretary of the campaign
with the check for $40,000 as the first payment on the
sum of over $51,000 raised this year in Detroit From
the reports submitted it was clear that the local expenses
amounted only to about $3,000-6% which is a highly sat-
isfactory figure. It is also very significant that $37,559.55
of the total sum raised was due to the efforts of The
Labor Zonist groups, $13,256.25 by the various Lands-
manshaften who always give
their best to this popular
campaign and the remainder by other groups. Mr. Schaver
expressed his thanks for the honor and his promise to go
on with the work for Labor Palestine.
