Shaarey Zedek Religious School Graduation
Exercises To Be Held on Sabbath, June 19

The annual high school gradu-
ation of the Shaarey Zedek Re-
ligious School will take place in
the synagogue main auditorium
on Saturday, June 19, as a fea-
ture of the Sabbath services.
Young men and women will re-
ceive their diplomas signifying
12 years of training in the
school.
Judith Pregerson and Harold
Berry will deliver the valedic-
tory addresses. Barbara Eder will
present a gift to the synagogue
from the class. Leah Crohn will
sing in Hebrew the 24th Psalm.
Dr. A. M. Hershman and Rabbi
Morris Adler will address the
graduates. Jacob B. Rogvoy is
the instructor of the 12th grade

Junior Service Group
Takes on New Duties

David A. Goldman, president
of the Junior Service Group, an-
nounces that at a recent meeting
of the board of directors, it was
decided that the group would
cooperate in the following proj-
ects: (1) In the collection of
past due Allied Jewish Campaign
accounts; (2) The Bureau of
War Records of the Jewish Wel-
fare Board and the Detroit Army
and Navy Committee in compiling
a complete record of local Jewish
men and women who have en-
tered the armed forces; (3) as-
sisting in the War Chest Cam-
paign in the fall.
Mr. Goldman also announced
the appointment of Ann Brooks,
Esta Geller, Meyer H. Golding
and Al Sparage as co-chairmen
of the committee on collections.
The personnel of the committee
is being selected and the names
will be announced at a later date.
Those wishing to assist the com-
mittee on collections may call
any of the chairmen, or Mrs.
Jean Schlesinger at the Jewish
Welfare Federation Office, Co-
lumbia 1600.

PIANO RECITAL

Maryan Fleisher will present
a group of senior students in a
piano recital, Wednesday eve-
ning, June 23, at 8:30, and a
group of intermediate and junior
students in a piano recital and
demonstration of the Dunning
Course, Sunday afternoon, June
27, at 2:30. Both recitals are
open to the public and will take
place at the Art Center Music

Congregation Bnai
David Launches
Religious Home Camp

Congregation Bnai David, Elm-
hurst and 14th, has organized
a Summer Religious Home Camp.
The camp will fill a great need
this summer due to war and
transportation difficulties. The
general aims will be to supply
instruction and recreation under
synagogue supervision. It is
hoped that the home influence
will be strengthened through the
synagogue. The Home Camp will
be under the supervision of Max
Chomsky, educational director of
Congregation Bnai David.
Registration has already begun
for the camp which will meet in
the social hall of the synagogue
at Elmhurst and 14th. The sea-
son will last from Tuesday, July
6, through Thursday, Aug. 5, and
will meet every afternoon from
Monday through Thursday.
The program will consist of a
story hour dealing with the Mid-
rashic literature of the Biblical
portions for those weeks, games
such as ping pong, indoor horse
shoes, checkers and chinese check-
ers. Those children who do not
have the fundamentals of the
reading of Hebrew will be taught.
In addition thereto, there will be
a huge library of current comic
books and Jewish books of child's
interests. Each afternoon program
will be ended by group Minchah
services. The congregation is also
planning a number of outings to
points of interest.
Children who wish to register
may come to the Congregation
office any afternoon from now
until the opening session. Regis-
tration is open to any Jewish boy
and girl from the ages of 5 to
14. Registration fee will be $1
for the season.
