Dr. Jack Stattman, who has
been in charge of the migration
department of Resettlement Serv,-
ice, Detroit, since it was orga-
nized about five years ago, i s

position with the Office of Price
Administration.
Dr. Stattman Studied at the
Universities of Berlin, Wayne and
Cologne, where he obtained his
degree as doctor of laws and
economics. His duties at Reset-
tlement Service consisted in ad-
vising their American and alien
clients about the laws and regu-
lations of this country with re-
spect to immigration and other
matters affecting aliens. To a
large extent he was also engaged
in assisting refugees to become
relocated and readjusted in this
country. As co-founder and sec-
retary of the New Detroiters
(formerly German - American
Group) he helped arranging for
monthly social meetings, to which
Americans were invited, and thus
both sides were given an oppor-
tunity to become friends and to
understand each other's problems.
From a small refugee group of
originally 30 to 40 people this
group enormously increased (lur-
ing the sx years of its existence
and their meetings were often
attended by more than 500 peo-
