MARRIAGES

HARRIS - WILK
Marcia Helene Wilk, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Wilk
of Canterbury Drive, was united
in marriage Sunday afternoon,
May 9, to Sergt. William Marvin
Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles K. Harris of Oak Drive.
The ceremony took place at
the home of the bride's parents
in the presence of the immediate
families. Miss Joan Wilk, sister
of the bride, acted as the maid
of honor, and Charles K. Harris
assisted his son as best man.
The bride wore an aqua crew ,
frock with a draped shoulder
edged in aqua net, and a match-
ing hat with shoulder-length veil.
She carried a white Bible with
a shower bouquet of white or-
chids.
Among out-of-town guests were
Jacob Wilk of New York City;
Harry Altman of Nlinneanolis,
Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. M. Louis
Fishman and daughter, Phylis.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fishman and
son. Michael, and Mrs. Sarah
Fishman, all of Grand Rapids,
Mich.
For her going-away outfit,
Mrs. Harris wore a beige dress-
maker suit with matching hat
and brown accessories.
Sergt. and Mrs. Harris left for
New Orleans where he is sta-
tioned at the Finance Detach-
ment, Jackson Barracks.

daughter, Carolyn. Irene, to Rob-
ert Doran Grossman, son of Mrs.
Stanley Grossman of Lakeland
Avenue, and the late Mr. Gross-
man.
The ceremony was performed
by Rabbi Leon Fram which took
place at the Statler Hotel, May 5.

ATHENA CLUB
Mrs. Al Prag of Waverly Ave.,
was hostess at the last regular
monthly meeting of the Athena
Club. An invitation was extend-
ed to the members and their hus-
bands to attend the Bar Matz-
vah of Maynard Kalef, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Kalef. A
check was sent to the American
Red Cross. The next regular
meeting will be held Thursday,
May 20 at the home of Mrs. Os-
car Ruzumna, 3247 Richton Ave.

the engagement and approaching marriage of her (laughter, Anita
Liebley Cohane, to Cadet Morton Cohen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mor-
ris H. Cohen of Columbus, Ohio. Cadet Cohen will receive his degree
from the University of Michigan this month. He is a member of
Phi Sigma Delta Fraternity and Scabbard and Blade, honorary mili-
tary fraternity. The date of the wedding has been set for May 30.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Weinstock of Windsor, Ontario, announce
the engagement of their daughter, Elsie, to Stanley J. Michaels,
son of Mrs. K. Michaels, of 2581 Elmhurst Avenue, Detroit. The
wedding date has been set for June 27, 1943.

Second Group in City

At the Be'th Tefilo Emanuel
Synagogue last Monday afternoon
Rabbi Samuel K. Mirsky, profes-
sor of the Yeshiva College of
New York, addressed a women's
meeting. As a result of his
talk, the group formed a second
chapter of the Women's League
for Sabbath Observance.
Mrs. Isador Levin, assisted by
Mrs. Milton A. Winston are in
charge of the new chapter which
will work in conjunction with
the parent group already func-
tioning and doing such significant
work in the field of Sabbath Ob-
servance. The new group will
concentrate its efforts to in-
crease the degree of Sabbath
Observance in the Twelfth Street
and Linwood neighborhood. This
group has 'already sponsored two
Oneg Shabbos gatherings at the
Beth Tefilo Enamuel Synagogue
and attracted large numbers of
women.
