Spring Series Opens

For Six Weeks

The Jewish Community Center
will offer a Spring Series to be-
gin on May 1 and last for six
weeks, ending June 13 with a
Bikurim Festival. During this
time there will be special ac-
tivities every evening, including
films, book chats, square dancing,
music appreciation, and arts and
crafts.
In addition, the Health Educa-

series of physical fitness pro-

Marie Jewish community, who
have not had the opportunity for
many years to participate in a
community Seder, also attended.
The success of the event was
due to the complete cooperation
of the Army officials who turned
over the field hospital kitchen for
the preparation of the Seder food.
Rabbi Sperka koshered the kitch-
en equipment, which along with
food was shipped from Detroit.
The B'nai B'rith Pisgah auxil-
iary's War Efforts committee, un-
der the chairmanship of Mrs.
Harry Singer and the Zedakah's
War Efforts committee. under
the chairmanship of Mrs. S.
Kornfield. sent Passover delica-
cies in lieu of the usual food
packages.

by Mrs. Ralph Wiggin of Sault
Ste. Marie, Michigan served and
helped in the kitchen.
The entire Seder was planned
in cooperation with the military
authorities by the National Jew-
ish Welfare board, the Detroit
Army and Navy committee of
the Jewish Welfare board, head-
ed by Samuel H. Rubiner, and
the Sault Ste. Marie Army and
Navy committee, under the chair-
manship of Max Barish.

the General Israel Orphan Home
for Girls in Palestine in answer
to their recent appeal, Mrs.
Anna Goldberg, president, an-
nounces the orphan shower will

Seders on Monday and Tuesday,
April 19 and 20 at Congregation
Beth Abraham.

the Air Force Headquarters De-
tachment in Detroit were guests
of honor. Over one hundred ser-
vice men attended these services.

PASSOVER FOOD SENT
TO BATTLE CREEK
The food committee of the
Detroit Jewish Welfare board's
Army and Navy committee, head-
ed by Mrs. Harry L. Jackson, has
arranged to send Passover food
packages to Battle Creek for the
entire Passover week.
Arrangements were also made
through the Detroit Army and
Navy committee to accommodate
all Jewish boys who requested
Seders in private homes as well
as meals during the Passover
week.

"The Peoples Was" will be the
theme of the spring series of
sound films to be inaugurated
at the Jewish Community Center
on Monday evening, May 3. The
series has been subtitled "Our
Allies and Enemies at Home and
Abroad," and will show the latest
motion pictures relating to the
war effort. The films scheduled
for showing on Monday, May 3,
are "Yanks Invade Africa," with
actual scenes of the American
forces invading the dark conti-
nent; "Letter From Bataan," a
glimpse of conditions there and
a challenge to Americans at
home; "A Child Went Forth,"
which deals with the problem of
day care of children ; and "Para-
troops," which deals with the art
of handling parachutes .
Subsequent programs in the
series will show films of China,
Britain, Poland, Japan and Italy,
and will deal with the general
problem of democracy and win-
ning the peace. All the films will
be shown at the Jewish Com-
munity Center, Woodward at Hol-
brook, on Monday evenings at
9:00 p. m. in the adult lounge.
Admission is free to Center

installation of new officers Tues-
day, May 4 at 8:30 p. m. at
the Congregation B'nai Moshe,
