a visit with their nephew, Lieut.
Herbert V. Rosenthal, who is
stationed at Fort Knox, Ky.

Mr. and Mrs. Morris Newman.
of Calvert Ave. are vacationing
in Miami Beach, Florida.

Miss Sue Character, after a
brief stay with her grandpar-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kroll
of the Wilshire Hotel, has re-
turned to join her parents,
Lieut. and Mrs. Schwartz of
Baltimore, Maryland.

Lieut. Sidney M. Gilberg has
been appointed sales officer at
Ft. Sheridan, Ill., by order of
Col. F. C. Rodgers, command-
ing officer. As sales officer,
Lieut. Gilberg operates the sales
and field commissary, buys re-
quisitions, stores and issues all
food supplies for troops station-
ed at Ft. Sheridan.

Capt. and Mrs. Maurice Gantz
of 17554 Wisconsin Ave. an-
nounce the Bar Mitzvah of their
son Joseph, at Temple Israel, on
Friday evening, April 16. At
home on Saturday, April 17,
8:30 to 11 p. m. No cards.

Many pre-nuptial parties were
given for Kalmayne Rottenberg,
who will be married on April
15. The first of these was a
dinner at the Belcrest on March
16, at which Mrs. S. Shapiro,
Mrs. M. Beldman and Mrs. S.
Goldman were hostesses. On the
18th, Miss Shirley Max feted
the bride-elect at a dinner in
her home on Burlingame Ave.
On the 22nd, a group of her
classmates entertained at a din-
ner and shower. On the 27th,
Mrs. M. M. Silverman and Mrs.
H. Weinert were hostesses at
luncheon at the Book Casino. On
the 30th, Mrs. S. Morton honor-
ed the bride-elect at a cock-
tail and supper party in her
home on Fullerton. On April 8,
a dinner was given at the Wil-
shire at which Mrs. N. Rom and
Mrs. D. Diamond were hostesses
assisted by Mrs. B. 'Yanover and
Miss Betty Rottenberg. The
bride-elect is the only daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Rotten-
berg of Calvert Ave.

Mrs. Bernice Emmer has left
for Tampa, Fla., to join her
husband, Private Herman Emmer,
who is stationed at Drew Field,
Tampa, Fla.

Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Moss of
3260 Fullerton left on Friday
April 2 for service in the United
States Army. He was a student
at Wayne University.

Poplack, whose engagement to
Eleanor Edythe Wolf was re-
cently announced, has reported
for duty. Cadet Poplack was a
senior at Northern Illinois Uni-
versity of Optometry. He is now

cently won his wings as a glider
