Jacob Sonenklar of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek officiated at the
candlelight ceremony at the bride's
home. The bride was attended
by her sister, Fay, and the groom,
by his brother, Ben. A buffet
dinner for 100 guests followed
the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs.
Picarowitz left after the cere-
mony for a short trip to Chicago.
Out-of-town guests were from
Brooklyn, New York City, New-
ark. N. J., and Chicago.
The groom is stationed at Mi-
ami Beach, Fla., where he is a
physical instructor in the Air
Corps.

The marriage of Miss Shirley
Max, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Sydney L. Max of Burlingame
Ave., to Pfc. Milton H. Shopnich,
son of Mi.. and Mrs. Israel Shop-
nich, of New York, was solem-
nized on Sunday, March 28, at
the Bnai Moshe Synagogue, Rab-
bis Moses Fisher and J. J. Nathan
officiating.
The bride was lovely in a
gown of ivory satin with rose
pointe lace yoke,, and her veil
was held by a crown of matching
lace. She carried a cascade of
orchids and roses.
Miss Kalamayne Rottenberg at-
tended the bride as maid of
honor. The bridesmaids were
Misses Celia Reznich, Helen
Karelbnick, Ethel Su•etzky and
Betty Myers. Sharon Wachs and
Marilyn Sitner were the junior
bridesmaids.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Max chose a gown of blue
crepe, and Mrs. Shopnich's gown
was blue chiffon. Both mothers
wore orchids.
A reception for the guests was
held at the Wilshire Hotel.

On Sunday, March 28, the
Shaarey Zedek Synagogue was
the scene of a lovely wedding
when June Smith, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Smith,
became the bride of Alvin Rosen,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rosen
of Chicago Ill.
The bride's gown was of ivory
satin fashioned on princess lines,
the full skirt ending in a long
train. Her finger-tip veil was held
by orange blossoms and she car-
ried orchids and gardenias.
Mrs. Burton I. Grossman of
Chicago attended her sister as
matron of honor with Marjery
Weingarden as flower girl. Or-
ville Rosen acted as best man for
his brother.
A reception was held following
the ceremony.
Among the out-of-town guests
were Mr. and Mrs. Orville Rosen,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rosen, Mr. and
Mrs. Morton Rosen, Mr. and Mrs.

At Battle Creek USO
Members of the Jewish War
Veterans' Ladies Auxiliary spent
the day at the USO West Mich-
igan Club in Battle Creek and
also visited at the Percy Jones
General Hospital with soldi6rs.
Before the group left for Fort
Custer, a preliminary ceremony
was staged in the auditorium of
the USO club, as the War Vet-
erans lined up with their flag and
banner, which were blessed by
Rabbi William B. Silverman of
Battle Creek.
