Dr. Leo Jung, prominent New York
rabbi, has accepted the chairman-
ship of the Cultural Committee of
the Joint Distribution Committee.

J.D.C. was founded, has spent over
$4,400,000 to assist and support

Perfection Lodge Host Contributions to the

Jewish Home for Aged
On Wednesday, April 7, Per-
fection Lodge No. 486 F. & A. M.,
will have as their guests the mem-
bers of Palestine Lodge No. 559
F. & A. M. of Toronto, Canada.
Accompanying them will be the
mayor of Toronto, the chief comp-
troller and the grand lodge offi-
cer of the Province of Ontario.
They will be met at the station
by the entertainment committee,
and driven to the Statler Hotel
to be welcomed. At 6:30 p. m.
a banquet has been arranged at
the Masonic Temple, at which
time several local dignataries will
be present. At 9:30 p. in. Pales-
tine Lodge will confer the 1st De-
gree Canadian Form on their own
candidate in the Lodge Room.
They will later be entertainment
at the Statler Hotel. All Masons
are cordially invited to attend.
The complete 'entertainment - pro-
gram is in charge of Messrs.
Tack, Taub, Mahler and Key-
well.

Goodwill Sewing Circle To
Hold Card Party April 6
A charity card party sponsored
by the Goodwill Sewing Circle
will be held Tuesday evening,
Tpril 6, at Bnai Moshe Dexter
Center, Dexter and Lawrence.
The proceeds will be turned over
to the Moies Chitim fuold to pro-
vide for the Passover needs of
people in dire financial circum-
stances. Mrs. Sam Rosenberg,
president of the Circle, extends
a cordial invitation to the public
to attend for this worthy cause.

1/2 teaspoon salt

baking powder
Cream shortening and corn syrup
thoroughly; add egg and beat well.
Stir in All-Bran and milk, let soak
until most of moisture is taken up.
Sift flour with salt and baking pow-
der; add to first mixture and stir only
until flour disappears. Fill greased
muffin pans two-thirds full and bake
in moderately hot oven (400° F.)
about 30 minutes. Yield: 8 large muf-
fins, 3 inches in diameter, or 12 small
muffins, 21/4 inches in diameter.

The newly organized Frank
Memorial Library at the Jewish
Community Center will reopen on
Sunday, April 4. Library hours
will be Monday through Thurs-
day, 8 to 10 p. m.; Sunday, 1:30
to 4 p. m.
Edward Kahn, chairman of the
library committee, announces that
the library is supposed to serve
primarily as a reading room. To-
wards this end, a number of cur-
rent magazines will be stocked in
the library. The magazines to be
stocked include, among others,
Time, Life, Ladies Home Jour-
nal, Popular Mechanics and the
Young Judean.
In organizing the library, many
of the old volumes have been dis-
carded. This step has been taken
in preparation for the new books
which are soon to be acquired.
The library will be staffed by
volunteer librarians.
The Center will be glad to hear
from anyone interested in rea-
dering volunteer services of this
kind.
Series of Meetings To
Be Held by Chapter of
Zionist Organization
Chapter I of the Zionist Dis-
trict of Detroit announces the
opening of a series of meetings.
These meetings will be held in
connection with the membership
campaign of the Zionist Organi-
zation of Detroit. Under the di-
rection of Theodore Olender, pres-
ident pro tem, due to the absence
of Harold Noveck. Noted men
speakers will address the meet-
ings, on Palestinian development.
The first of these open meetings
will feature Leon Kay, who will
speak on the economic structure
of Palestine and how it has been
expanded and adapted to aid the
war effort. The meeting will be
held at the home of Miss Marion
Hoffman, 8812 LaSalle Blvd., on
Thursday evening, April 8, at
8:30. Young adults are especially
invited to attend.

Memorial Services
In compliance with the request
of The Jewish Council, The Ladies
of Yeshivath Beth Yehuda held a
public meeting, as a tribute to
the martyrs of Europe, who per-
ished at the hands of the Nazis.
Memorial services were held. Rab-
bi Weiss, dean of The Yeshivath,
opened the memorial service. Wil-
liam Hordes gave a reading. Mr.
Weiner gave the memorial prayer.
At a business meeting, held af-
ter the service, it was decided
