A nursery rhyme strikes home this year. Thousands of us
will be planting beets, carrots, beans, radishes, and tomatoes
this year. It is the patriotic thing to do. Besides furnishing
the country with tremendous amounts of extra food there
is the added advantage of giving thousands of us outdoor
exercise. No matter how hard a person works indoors
during the day it is a helpful relaxation to be out after
work digging in the earth.
Like everything else there must be a warning note. Don't
overdo.
Believe it or not digging works many unused
muscles.
Bending and stooping in unnatural positions as
you care for the plants is good exercise but start slowly
and easily.
