Leo L. Honor, director of Jew-
ish Education of Chicago, and
dean of the College of Jewish
Studies.
Among the entertaining fea-
tures of the afternoon will be a
program of Hebrew and Yiddish
songs by Marguerite Kozenn.
Mrs. Benjamin B. Gordon is in
full charge of the luncheon ar-
rangements. Her co-chairman is
Mrs. Morris Fishman. The com-
mittee consists of: Mesdames
Julius Berman, Moe S. Perlis,
Robert Loewenberg, Morris
Krause, Charles Robinson, Harry
Sklar, Herman Wetsman, Moe S.
Dann, Louis Seiton, and Rudolph

Mrs. George M. Roberts is the
chairman of the publication of
the souvenir program. Mrs. Max
Hayman is chairman of the 11th

Henry Scott at Fisher
Town Hall Wed., Jan. 20

Coming directly from New
York where he created a sensa-
tion at Carnegie Hall and the
Rainbow Room, Henry Scott, hu-
morous virtuoso of the piano
will play at Detroit Town Hall
in the Fisher Theater, Wednes-
day morning, Jan. 20, at 11
o'clock.
A master of the comedy type
of piano playing, Scott will give
a unique program of concert sa-
tire, classics, and swing for his
first Detroit appearance.

J.W.V. Auxiliary Opens
Surgical Dressing Unit

A Red Cross branch in surgical
dressings and bandages will open
under the auspices of the Michi-
gan Ladies' Auxiliaries of the
Jewish War Veterans, with in-
structors from the Red Cross.
There will be two classes, start-
ing Tuesday, Jan. 19, also Wed-
nesday. One class will be the
morning at 10 a. m. and one in
th evening at 6:30. Each course
consists of five hours instruction
before one can engage in the
work.
Registrations are necessary to
form this unit. Register with the
chairman, Mrs. Mary Wallace, by
calling Un. 2-0501, and her as-
sistants, Mrs. Marguerite Art,
Ho. 8853, or Mrs. Blanche Green-
blatt, To. 7-1396.
Volunteers from any or all
organizations are invited to call
and register. Come prepared with
a white dress or uniform and
headdress and scissors.
• Eight million surgical dressings
and bandages are required by
March 1. Kindly cooperate. The
need is urgent. Do your part in
this war effort work.
A first aid class will meet
every Thursday evening at the
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah, Dexter
at Cortland Ayes., under the
supervision of Nurse Sarah Bar-
ris, supervisor of the Woman's
Hospital.
The hours will be 8 to 10 p. m.
Everyone is invited to enroll and
join in this important work.
Men and women are both eli-
gible.

Verein Luncheon Jan. 19

A special board meeting of the
Progressive Unterstitzung Ve-
rein was held at a luncheon Wed-
nesday, Jan. 6, at the home of
Mrs. S. Miral, 3290 W. Grand

of Purity Chapter, No. 359, 0.
F.. S., future plans were dis-
cussed, namely a Valentine card
party and a rummage sale.
The Valentine card party is
scheduled for Feb. 15 and is to
be held at the Eastern Star Tem-
ple, 80 W. Alexandrine. All mem-
bers and their friends are cor-
dially invited. Part of the pro-
ceeds will go towards remember-
ing our boys who are in the arm-
ed forces overseas. Refreshments
will be served and several prizes

lingen Army Gunnery School,
Harlingen, Tex., Private Sol
Mullin of 2023 Tuxedo Ave. has
been promoted to the rank of
Staff Sergeant with Wings, and
was given the honor of being
made valedictorian of the class.
He has been assigned to instruct
aerial gunnery at the Laredo
Army Air Field, Laredo, Tex.
Staff Sergeant Mullin enlisted in
the Army Air Force in June,
1942, and was formerly con-
nected with Grayson Shops, Inc., '
as assistant manager.

MAURICE BORDELOVE

elected officers, headed by Maurice
Bordelove, well known in fraternal
circles as the noble grand. This
marks the second time in 20 years
that Mr. Bordelove will preside
over Jericho Lodge. It was in
July, 1922, when he became noble
grand of Jericho Lodge.
Mr. Bordelove is the lodge's
representative to the Grand Lodge
of Odd Fellows of Michigan, hav-
ing served in that capacity con-
tinually since 1924. It was in
1935 when Bordelove became the
Grand Patriarch of the Grand
Encampment of Michigan and he
served as the grand representa-
tive to the Sovereign Grand Lodge
representing the state of Michi-
gan in the international body in
1936 and 1937. As a member
of the Patriarchs Militant, the
Fellows, Bordelove was the state
uniformed branch of the Odd
treasurer of that branch for 12
years with the rank of Lt. Col-
onel.

Chapter Meet Jan. 18

Congregation Bnai Moshe will
honor past president Louis Guns-
berg by naming a class of new
members after him at a ceremony
befitting the occasion Sunday af-
ternoon, Jan. 21, 2:30 o'clock.
Gunsberg served as president
for two terms, in 1938 and 1939,
and is a member of a funnily
which has long been associated
with the growth and progress of
the Congregation. His brother
Sam Gunsberg also served in the
office of president and as Gabbo
while Sigmund and Joseph Guns-
berg are active and devoted mem-
bers of many years standing.
Greetings to the new members
will be spoken by president
Adolph Beck of the Congregation.
Andrew Iczkowitz, chairman of
the membership committee, Mrs.
