Jacob Ben Ami and his all
star cast have given Detroit the-
atergoers the type of perform-
ance that they had been assured
could be given by artists such
as have been gathered together
by Ben Ami.
The next play to be performed
at Littman's Theater Saturday
night, Dec. 5 and Sunday after-
noon and night Dec. 6 will be
"Love and Death," by Jacob
Gordon, a playwright favorably
and well known to those who are
acquainted with the Yiddish
Theater.

The Temple Israel Sisterhood
through its program chairman,
Mrs. Roy Sarason has completed
arrangements for a War Effort
Symposium to be held on Monday

of the Detroit Institute of Arts
Bldg. Preceding the program a

songs by the well known Cantor
Robert S. Tulman, who, by his
fine rendition of synagogue, oper-
atic and concert music, is rec-
ognized an artist of outstanding
-k

Edward Weeks, editor of The
Atlantic Monthly, and one of
America's finest lecturers on
contemporary literature is the
speaker at The Cass Theatre for
the Detroit Town Hall's last
lecture before the Christmas
holidays, on Friday morning,
Dec. 11 at 11 o'clock.
Before Mr. Weeks, in 1938,
became ninth on the list of fam-
ous editors for the venerable At-
lantic Monthly, he had served as
associate editor of the Atlantic
Monthly, and as editor of the
Atlantic Monthly Press.
Besides being a brilliant edi-
tor, book commentator, "Meet
Mr Weeks" on a nation-wide
broadcast was a great success
for two winters. In his lecture
Friday morning with the subject
"Books in a Troubled World,"
Edward Weeks will discuss a
dozen or more books and among
them are: "Song of Bernadette,"
by Franz Werfel; "Death of the
Moth," by Virginia Wolff; "One
Man's Meat," by E. B. White;
"Lee's Lieutenants," by Douglas
Freeman; "Conditions of the
Peace," by Edward Carr: and
"Now Tomorrow," by Rachel
Field.
