This meeting which is open to
the public will commence at
8:30 p. m.
Rabbi Morris Adler of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek will
be the speaker of the evening
and has chosen for his topic,
The Significance of Chanukah."
A delli,Ihtful musical program
has been arranged featuring
patriotic airs and the lighting
of the Chanukah candles by
Louis Greenblatt, popular tenor
soloist accompanied by Bella
Goldberg.
Rudolph Meyersohn president
of Pisgah Lodge urges all mem-

A book written by a Detroit
author will be the subject of
Rabbi Leon Fram's sermon at the
Sabbath Eve services next Fri-
day night, Dec. 11, in the lecture
hall of the Detroit Institute of
Arts.
The book is "Sabotage," by
Michael Sayers and Albert E.
Kahn. It is listed by the New
York Times and the New York
Herald Tribune as among the
best sellers in the non-fiction
class.
Co-author Albert E. Kahn is
the son of the late Moritz Kahn,
and a nephew of Albert Kahn,
the Detroit architect. He is also
the brother of Mrs. Bayre Levin,
president of the Sisterhood of
Temple Israel.
Rabbi Fram has chosen this
book as his pulpit topic at the
rcquest of Temple Israel Sis-
terhood. The rabbi had reviewed
the book at the November meet-
in g of the Sisterhood. The ladies
found the review so instructive
that they unanimously requested
Rabbi Pram to present it again

REVUE LUNCHEON

A patriotic revue luncheon will
be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, 1942,
at 1 p. m. in the Grand Ball
-Room of the Book-Cadillac Hotel.
The theme, Women's Progress
for Victory, since Pearl Harbor,
exemplified by women in the field
unfolding their part in serving
in important civilian and mili-
tary positions with building mor-
ale and the replacement of man-
power since the beginning of the
war, and the object of rendering
aid for a quick and positive vic-
tory.

Jewish theater when it visits
Detroit and is using the oppor-
tunity presented by the presence
of Jacob Ben Ami and his troupe
of Jewish artists to arrange two
special productions for the Guild.
The first of the productions will
be a special performance for
children of "The Green Fields,"
a drama of high artistic merit
by the prominent playwright
Peretz Hirshbein. The play will
be presented without admission
charge to the children attending
the Jewish schools here in the
city, on Sunday morning, Dec.
13, at the Littman's Peoples
Theater. The Guild is arranging
with the teachers of the various

types of schools: the Workmen's
Circle, Sholem Aleichem, Far-

band, Orden, Talmud Torahs and
Yeshivas, for the pupils to be
brought to see this play. The

Guild, which is underwriting the
costs of this performance, is
anxious that the children be
given an opportunity to witness
an artistic production for chil-
dren in a Jewish theater. Teach-
ers may procure the necessary
information at the Guild office.
The second production spon-
sored by the Guild will be the
performance of the famous dra-
ma "Yankel Der Shmied," by
the outstanding writer and play-
wright David Pinski, whose 70th
birthday is now being observed
all over America. This perform-
ance will be in the nature of a
celebration in honor of Pinski
and prominent speakers will par-
ticipate in the program of the
evening, which will take place
Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the Litt-
man's Peoples Theater.
Although Jacob Ben Ami and
his cast have come to Detroit on
the initiative of A. Littman, the
Theater Guild is lending its sup-
port to this venture because it is
not only interested in building
a communal art theater in De-
troit but in stimulating and sup-
porting the better Jewish theater

as well as all facets of Jewish
art.
The Guild has arranged a
meeting for Dec. 10 at 8:30

p. m. at the Workmen's Circle
Educational Center at which
time the members of the Guild
will have an opportunity to meet
Jacob Ben Ami, Berta Gerstin
and all the members of the cast,
so as to bring into closer con-
tact the lovers of good theater
and the artists who are devoting
themselves to the creation of a
Jewish theater art.
