NRS TRAINING FITS REFUGEE WOMEN
FOR JOBS VITAL TO U. S. WAR EFFORT

In the machine shops, in the laboratories, In hospitals and

factories and civilian defense, refugee women are working for
America—releasing men for war duty and aiding war produc•

be trained In a National Refugee Service machine shop course.
The laboratory technician and the nurse on the right are also
refugees being traltied through NRS help—they'll save lives
for America. In the 10 months from Pearl Harbor to Septem•
ber 30, the National Refugee Service initiated retraining for
540 persons in fields valuable to the war effort, made nearly
5,000 general job placements, and an additional 635 place•
ments for professionals. The National Refugee Service is rep-
resented, together with the Joint Distribution Committee and
the United Palestine Appeal. in the national campaign of the

United Jewish Appeal.
