reason of superior virtue. But
I shall live and will not forget
to laugh. I shall laugh again.

I shall laugh on a day not

far off. On that day people will
dance on the streets of the
United States. They will dance

t"

through the day, and night will
fall and the blacked-out cities
will burst into dazzling light
again. Brighter even than the
cities will be the eyes of the
people illuminated by the vision
of a world more just and lovely
than they ever knew before.
They will shout: "It's all over!"
• • . "End of Hitler!" . . "No
more Hitler!" . .. No more Na-
zi s! • • . "No more Lidices!"
• • • "No more slaughter" . . .
"Time for brotherhood!" .
•
Time for justice" . . . "For lov-
ing kindness" . . • They will
wonder where is Hitler? What's
become of Hitler? They will ask,
will Hitler be caught?
I shall laugh but my laughter
will not be the croacking laugh-
ter of vengeance. I shall laugh
with the laughter of an ancient
man who is laughing again at
the timeless comedy of arro-
gance being reduced to self pity,
and cruel power becoming the
whimpering fugitive from justice.

An all Russian film. program
will be presented at the Jewish
Community Center on Monday,
Nov. 23. Four films, all of them
dealing with Russia's war effort,
will be shown. The films are "For
Honor, Freedom, and Country,"
"Russia's Millions Mobilize," "Rus-
sia Stops Hitler," and "The Red
Army." These are all sound
film with the narrative in English.
The program will be held in the
Adult Lounge of the Jewish Com-
munity Center, Woodward at
Holbrook, at 8:30 p. m. There is
no charge for members. The fee
for non-members is 17c.

Theatre, Wednesday evening, Nov.
18.

called into consultation by gov-
ernment leaders. He apeared on
The Town Hall of the Air" and

Yeshivoth Lublin
Purchases Building

The Yeshivath Chachmey Lub.

lin has purchased the Profession-

al Building, located at the corner
of Linwood and Elmhurst. The
first pledge was made by Mr. and
Mrs. S. Bookstein, who donated
the sum of $25,000.
The Yeshivath Chachmey Lub-
lin, founded by the great Rabbi
Meyer Shapiro, was one of the
largest and most famous of its
kind in Europe.
Years ago Rabbi Shapiro was
in America for the purpose of
raising funds for the founding
of the original institution in Eu-
rope. In this he succeeded.
With the advance of the Nazi
barbarians into Poland the Ye-
shivath Chachmey Lublin was de-
stroyed. But, thanks to Providence
and the foresight of the leaders
of the school, the Yeshiva sur -
mounted all of its difficulties and
succeeded in re-establishing itself
here in Detroit.
With the opening of this his-
toric school, Detroit has assumed
a new place among the great cen-
ters of Jewish culture and Torah-
learning in this country.
The Yeshivath Chachmey Lub-
lin's management has been tem-
porarily entrusted to a committee
of well-known Rabbis and lay.
man. The dean of the school is
the well-known Rabbi and scholar
Moshe Rotenberg, a graduate of
this institution in Lublin.
