Council Juniors To
Attend Cuban Fiesta

The National Council of Jew-
ish Juniors in having its second
general nursing on Sunday, Nov.
15, at the Hotel Statler. At 2.30
p. m. members and their friends
will be taken to a Cuban fiesta.
Our guide and narrator will be
the Cuban Consul, Cesar Ferrer.
Among others at the fiesta will
be Romero and his dancers and
a noted guitar player. All girls
interested in the work of Junior
Council are urged to attend this
meeting to learn of interesting
coming events.

(lied Nov. 8 and was buried from
Lewis Bros. Funeral Home on
Nov. 10, with interment at the
Beth Olem Cemetery. Rabbi A.
M. Hershman and Cantor Jacob
Sonenklar officiated. He is sur-
vived by a brother, Herman, and
six sisters, Mrs. Jacob Oppen-
helm, Esther, Mrs. Herbert Levey
of Miami Beach, Fla., Mrs. Eve-
lyn Greenberg of New York,
Mrs. David R. Love and Mrs.
Ray Lewis.

JOSEPH LEIDER
died Nov. 11 at the age of 76.
He was buried at the Brith Sho-
him Cemetery with Rabbi Jack
Nathan officjating.. He is survived

Official, Dies at 49

Funeral services for Arthur A.
Chaplin, president of the Metro-
politan Motion Picture Co., 121
Fisher Building, who died Sat-
urday, Nov. 7, in his home at
18262 Muirland was held at 1
p. m. last Monday in the Temple
Beth El Chapel. Burial was in
Beth El Memorial Park.
Born in Manchester, England,
49 years ago, Caplan came to the
United States and settled in
Cleveland in 1907. He moved to
Detroit in 1925 to join his broth-
er, the late Maurice Caplan, in
the promotion of the motion-pic-
ture company. Upon Maurice's
death in 1937, Arthur became
president.
He was a member of the Vari-
ety Club, Temple Beth El and
the Board of Commerce.
Surviving are his wife, Rose;
two sons, Stanley L. and David
J.; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah
Wilkes, Mrs. Jennie Rosen and
Mrs. Betty Young, and three
brothers, Charles B., Jarvis J.
and harry H. Caplan.

The Ladies' Auxiliary of the
Yeshivath Chachmey Lublin is
arranging a shower for the bene-
fit of the newly organized Yeshi-
vah. The shower will be held
Monday, Nov. 16, at 8 p. m., in
Jericho Temple.
The Yeshivath Chachmey Lub-
lin has a dormitory and it needs
