Beth El Sisterhood To Hear Dr. Marquardt The Sisterhood of Temple Beth El will present Frederic S. Mar- quardt, Far Eastern expert for the Chicago Sun, at its regular meeting, Monday, Nov. 9, at 2:00 p. m. in the Brown Chapel of the Temple. His subject will be "Japan's Great Gamble." The meeting is open to Sister- hood members only and will be preceded by a dessert luncheon in the Social Hall. Before joining the staff of the Chicago Sun when it was found- ed in December of 1941, Mr. Mar- quardt had worked for the Phil- ippines Free Press and for lead- ing American and British news syndicates in Manila. Mr. Marquardt knows General McArthur personally and recently wrote a series of articles on him and his history-making stand on Bataan. which has been praised as one of the most accurate and vivid accounts of the great fight for the Philippines.
