Congress Women To

Meet Armistice Day

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, a large
and enthusiastic audience heard
members of the Detroit Womens
Division of the American Jewish
Congress explain the activities
and purposes of the organization.
The program took the form of a
symposium.
A most vital situation in cur-
rent public affairs was brought
to the attention of the members
by Mrs. Benjamin L. Kohen. Rep.
Hinshaw has introduced a bill to
close all foreign language schools.
Members of the community are
urged to write to their represent-
ative and oppose this bill. Should
any group or organization wish
further information the Speakers
Bureau of the Congress is pre-
pared to send out speakers, Con-
tract Mrs. Kohen, Un. 2-1668.

The next meeting of the Wo-
mens Division will be held on
Wednesday, Nov. 11. It being
Armistice Day the program will
be of a patriotic nature. Mrs.
Max Frank, chairman of the
inter-faith committee announces
that there will be a very novel
program entitled "Looking to
the Peace." There will be a
Chinese, a Negro and a Jewish
speaker. Also on this program
Mrs. Milford Pregerson will give
a reading entitled "The Prophet
Amos on Times Square." The
meeting will be held in the Bag-
ley room of the Hotel Statler and
a luncheon at 12:30 p. m. will
precede the program. Reserva-
tions must be made. Call Mrs.
Samuel Katkin, University 2-

to invite non-Jewish friends to
attend this meeting in so much
as the program will be of an
international character.
