Mt. Sinai Donor Lunch

Mrs. Joshua Karbel, general
chairman of the Mt. Sinai Donor
Luncheon scheduled for Oct. 28,
reports activity among her various
committees. The newest groups
to enter the parade of active com-
mittees, is the resale clothing and
miscellaneous committee under
the supervision of Mrs. Nadler.
A store has been secured at
Westminister and Oakland and
members are urged to bring their
wares for quick resale as the
demand is quite great.
The breakfast last Wednesday
wits a success and detailed reports
of the numerous chairmen and co-
chairmen will 1w announced pub-
licity next week. The general
concensus of opinion, however, is
that the summer season had not
in the least slackened the efforts
of the members to make the com-
ing luncheon bigger and better
than ever.
The general meeting on Sept.
30 at the Temple Beth El, (de-
tails to be announced later) to
renew the drive for the fall. All
members, friends, and families,
are urged to attend. An interest-
ing program is promised and an-
nouncement of note will be made.

The board heard a sum im ry of
Detroit USO activities for the last
three months. They included the
presentation of 20 shows a week
to servicemen, provided by the en-
tertainment committee; expansion
of dormitory capacity from 228
to 428 free beds; donation of more
than $3,000 worth of recreational
equipment and furniture to posts
in this area; and the providing of
10,000 free sandwiches and 25,000
free cups of coffee each week at
the Downtown USO Club alone.
Attendance at the Downtown Club
numbered 60,000 in August.
Continuing to serve on the ex-
ecutive committee, which operates
the Metropolitan Detroit USO, are

Dr. Glazer Speaker on
Center Succoth Program

A distinguished speaker, a tine
musical program and a techni-
color film will be featured at the
annual Succoth celebration of the
Council of Mothers' Clubs to be
held Wednesday evening, Sept.
30, at 8:15 o'clock, at the Jewish
Community Center, Woodward at
Holbrook Avenues.
Dr. B. Benedict Glazer, of
Temple Beth El, will be the
speaker of the evening. Two art-
ists will be heard on the musical
program. Maurice Short, tenor,
who is a member of the Temple
0th El Quartette, will sing a
group of Hebrew and English
songs. Violinist Jerome Stashef-
sky, who serves as concenrtmaster
of the Center Symphony Orches-
tra, will present a program of
Hebrew and classical musk. Lucia
Wolton, accompanist, will be at
the piano.
Airs. Sidney J. Allen, chairman
of the Mothers' Clubs' advisory
committee, will preside at the
Succoth celebration.
