These are some of the men historians %dB remember
when the final story of the conflict is written. They are the
American fighters of Jewish faith w h o sunk battleships and
submarines, fought the enemy in the skies, held out heroic.
ally at Bataan and on Corregidor. For Lieutenant Henry
Mark and Private Louis Schleifer, the fighting is done.
They were killed in the early days of the war—Mark while
rushing across an open rice field with a load of hand gren-
ades intended for an enemy machine-gun nest, and Schleifer

mobile attempting to wheel a plane into a hanger during the attack on
Milani Field, Hawaii. But while there are soldiers like Levin to
hammer Jap battlewagons From the heavens, and sailors like Caplan
to fight them on the seas, Mark and Schleifer will not have died 1st vain.

are piling up a record of heroic service, some receiving distinguished
service awards for bravery under fire, others losing their lives en
action—all fighting staunchly in the service of their country.

Danish Students Stage
Biggest Pro-Jewish Protest
Since Outbreak of War

STOCKHOLM (WNS) — The

annual meeting of university stu-
dents from all parts of Denmark
was the scene of the greatest
pro-Jewish demonstration in Nazi-
dominated Europe since the out-
break of war, according to in-
formation received here this week.
In oen defiance of Nazi regula-
tions, thousands of Danish stu-
dents, gathered in the city of
Goerloev for the traditional meet-
ings and festivities, taged an im-
pressive demonstration of their
friendship for Jews, which the
people of Denmark or the Nazi
leaders will not soon forget.
The students
conducted a
parade through the streets of the
city, carrying the Danish and
blue and white Jewish flags. Wo-
men students were clad in blue
and white dresses, while the men
wore blue and white hats. .Jewish
students were given laces of honor
in the arade.
At a meeting which followed
the arade, the orchestra layed
Denmark's national anthem and
the "Hatikvah."
