the Chinese that our phrase,
"yellow clogs," means that we
look down upon the yellow-skin-
ned peoples of Asia.
Our ear must not be turned
to that Chinese criticism alone.
We must listen to the wails of
people within the borders of the
United States who suffer hecaui,e
millions of Americans _still per-
sist in disregarding the act of
Abraham Lincoln and its consti-
tutional counterpart, on the issue
of full freedom for the negro.
The Jew as employer must rise
to it level far higher than any
employers' groups within the
United States, in responding to
President Roosevelt's plea that
that no man must be shut out of
joh because of race, rellitimi
or color. The Jew can do no less
than President Roosevelt who
rent negro American troons into
what has been known as "white"
Australia.
If the day ever comes when
the Jew should fail to exert his
utmost influence to make the
President's plan of equality suc-
ceed on every front of America's
life, on that day the position of
the Jew in Amorioa will become
insecure. Only if the position of
rv - ry people within America is
ss fv, will the position of the Jew
in America remain safe.
The fact that the two big
countries of South A ism . ha have
disregmrded the color line is a
source of hope for the peoples
of Europe who are n OW the
slaves of Hitler. Many thousands
of them will have to scel; n ew
fiields of opportunity. If they
can be trained for occupations
that a growing country like Bra-

PETOSKEY ,'MICHIGAN

It's not a pleasant picture to con-
template, but War calls for "blood
and sweat and tears." And the Army
Medical Corps, with its efficient
nurses and its volunteer Red Cross
'Angels of Mercy," needs thousands
of surgical beds for field and base
hospitals on every front.

These beds cost approximately $22
They are the latest thing in
modern hospital beds, with elevating
springs. In some instances surgi-
cal cots are used in temporary field
hospitals and there is a folding bed
which may be used in ambulances
Your purchase of War Bonds and
Stamps can buy many of these
beds for the Army. You'll sleep
better if you know our boys have
every hospital comfort. Buy War
Bonds every pay day. Invest ten
percent of your income.

zil needs, the Jew, together with
Other European itmnigrants, will
be likely to find an open door
still swinging at the ports of
Brazil.
The Jew must refurbish that
bright jewel in his religion that
proclaimed to mankind that we
all have one Father and that ono
God created us all. That prin-
ciple was meant to be it principle
for living and not it principle for
religious ornamentation.
Jews—spiritually strong Jews
—in America must dedicate this
New Year to winning America for
the platform of the four bunion
freedoms. You cannot get sub-
scribers for that human security
as easily as you can , for pur-
chases of war savings bonds. But
no Jew—no American, whatever
his religious faith or racial or
national background—can count
himself a true patriot and a true
protagonist of the cause of the
United Nations, unless he can
sell that charter of human secur-
ity—the four human freedoms---
to himself and to his neighbors.
The color line is one boundary
line between the peoples of this
earth that must be eradicated
during this war—and not after
this war—for the peace and hap-
piness of God's human family
over the earth.

Hitler found out that his high pow-
ered mechanized and motorized
army bogged down in the snow and
' mud of the Russian Winter. Al-
, though our Army is largely mecha-
, nized the cavalry horse is still a
highly essential factor in this mount-
ed division and in the Field Artil-
i lery. The Army also maintains re-
mount farms where many cavalry
horses are bred and raised.
