RAY GORRELL AND JIMMIE DORSEY
While Ray Correll, prominent
Detroit orchestra leader, was vis-
iting his famous contemporary,
Jimmie Dorsey, during the latter's
engagement with his orchestra at
Eastwood Gardens, recently, Cor-
rell was notified that he had been
voted the winner of the Fitch
Bandwagon Contest. Dorsey seized
the opportunity to convey the
good news to the tremendous
crowd of dancers by introducing
the smiling and happy Correll, who
received one of the greatest ova-
tions of his colorful career. Cor-
rell and his orchestra plus his
talented group of entertainers,
featuring the lovely young vocal-
ist, Juliana, will do the Fitch
Bandwagon coast-to-coast broad-
cast over WWJ, at 7:30 p.m.,
eastern war time, Sunday, Sept.
6. The program will originate in
the grand ballroom of Hotel Stat-
ict and will be broadcast by short
wave to our fighting men all over
the world. The broadcast is open
to the public.
