The Detroit Musician's Assn.
celebrates its 22nd anniversary
Monday evening, July 20. Preced-
ing this is the installation of
association officers, followed by a
musical program and reception.
The time is 8 until 10 p. m., and
takes place at the Detroit Asso-
ciation of Women's Clubs, 5461
Brush st. at Ferry.
This is a colored organization,
the oldest of its kind in the City,
and was instrumental in present-
ing for the first time here, or any-
where, Verdi's Aida (a second
production of same opera), and
later Carmen. These in 1938, 1939
and 1940. The Aida presentation,
by an all-colored cast, was at the
Detroit Institute of Art.
A broadcast over International-
Good Will Hour, WJLB Radio
Station, will be given Sunday
evening, July 19, 11 to 11:15 p.

King Peter Tells Zionists
He is With Them

NEW YORK (WNS) — The
young King Peter of Yugoslavia
is enthusiastic about building
Palestine as a Jewish homeland.
Ile indicated this to a group of
American Zionists who called on
him at his suite in the Waldorf
Astoria. The Zionists, the King
said, "had made the Holy Land
flow again with milk and honey.
I was particularly impressed
with the modern large scale col-
onization work on land which
had long been neglected and
thought to be uncultivateable.
It was heartening to see in those
days of destruction the fine spirit
and the work by young and old
men whose purpose is to build.
not break down. The Jews of
Palestine who are today fighting
in the British units in Egypt and
in the RAF over many areas are
brothers in arms of the Yugo-
slav patriots who are harrassing
and killing the foe on Yugoslav
soil."

Yanks Arrive in Tel
Aviv and Feel at Home

and
it's.

TEL AVIV, Palestine (WNS)
—A new and inspiring sight is
now to be seen in the all-Jewish
city of Tel Aviv. It is that of
American air pilots strolling
down Allenby St. or stopping
at a store to get some of that
frozen "Glida" (which is the
way they say ice cream in Heb-
.rew)• Others stop at the bar
where there is a sign, "We speak
American."
At present, only a vanguard
of American pilots have arrived,
but everybody in Tel Aviv has
passed the word that "the Yanks
are coining" and the expectation
is that they will soon be here
in large numbers. In anticipa-
tion, many of the restaurants
have undergone changes of no-
menclature. You can now find,
for example, one restaurant
called The New York Eats, which
should be plain enough for an
American even if he is not a
Harvard graduate.
The Palestinians are definitely
happy that the Yanks are com-
ing.

Capture Axis Claims

JERUSALEM (Palcor) — An
early unauthorized report to the
effect that thousands of Palestin-
ian Jewish soldiers were captured
by the Axis when Tobruk fell was
not supported in an official state-
ment issued here today by the
military authorities to the effect
that the Palestinian casualties in
the Western Desert campaign up
to July '7 consisted of seven taken
prisoner at Tobruk and two
wounded in action. The Italian
radio stations had boasted of the
higher number of Palestinian Jew-
ish prisoners.
The military communiue issued
here states that there is no rec-
ord of any Pioneer personnel cap-
tured or any member of the Wo-
men's Auxiliary Territorial Serv-
ice captured or killed by the
enemy.

emergency, the police may be
counted upon in a full military
way.
