Women's Sabbath
League Installs

At a well attended meeting,
Rabbi A. M. Hershman installed
the newly elected officers of the
Women's League for Sabbath
Observance, last Monday afternoon
at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue,
with ceremonies deeply impressive.
Rabbi Hershman spoke briefly on
the vital need which this organ-
iiation fills at this time.

The following were installed:
Mrs. J. S. Sperka, president; Mrs.
Abraham Caplan, first vice-presi-
dent; Mrs. M. H. Zackheim, sec-
ond vice-president; Mrs. Samuel
Cohen, recording secretary; Mrs.
M. Winston, corresponding secre-
tary; Mrs. M. Cantor, financial
secretary; Mt•si. M. Wohlgelernter,

treasurer; Mrs. Samuel Aaron,
chairman of the board.
Rabbi Wohlgelernter outlined
projects and functions for the
group in the coming year. John
Steinbeck's new book "The Moon
Is Down" was reviewed by Mrs.
J. S. Sperka.
A city-wide membership drive
is being lauched, and literature
prepared for distribution among
the various women's clubs in the
city on the place and importance
of Sabbath in Jewish life.
