ABRAHAM GOLDBERG
Sunday, June 7, 1942 at 8:00
p. m., at the Central High School
Auditorium, on Tuxedo between
Linwood and LaSalle.
An interesting program has
been arranged featuring the ap-
pearance of Dr. Abraham Gold-
berg, renowned journalist and
Zionist leader, who will be guest
speaker. His topic will be "The
Jewish People Among Our Allies."
Dr. Goldberg, a past vice presi-
dent of the American Jewish Con-
gress and many times president
of the Histadruth Jurith, is well
known in Detroit and elsewhere
as an orator of the greatest abil-
ity. He is at present chairman
of the Jewish Council for Russian
War Relief, Inc.
To make a completely enjoy-
able evening program, the serv-
ices of Henry Siegl, accomplished
violinist, and the Detroit Halevei
Singing Society under the direc-
tion of D. Frohman, have been
obtained.
There will also be given at that
program an audited report of the
activities and finances of the
Folks' Committee for Russian
War Relief.
Realizing the interest that this
meeting would have to Detroit
Jewry, and recognizing that
many who have not participated
in the work of the Folks' Com-
mittee would wish to attend this
gathering, the committee, under
the chairmanship of Henry M.
Abramovitz, decided to make the
meeting open to the public at no
cost and to further assure every-
one that no solicitations would be
made that evening.

Installation on June 9
The most revered operetta of
the Yiddish stage, "Bar Koch-
ba", studded with an all-star
cast, will be revived on Sunday
matinee and evening, June 14, at
the Wilson Theater to commem-
orate the hundredth anniversary
of the birth of Abraham Gold-
fadden, heralded everywhere as
the father of the Yiddish stage.
Bar Kochba, a historical oper-
etta in blank verse, based on the
actual he.. ,)ic exploits of Bar
Kochba, the dauntless Jewish gen-
eral, who fought tirelessly to stem
Roman oppression and tyranny,
who fought tirelessly to stern
Roman oppression and tyranny,
is the best of the countless plays
written by the late Abraham
Goldfadden. "Bar Kochba" has
been revived thousands of times
since it was first produced well
nigh fifty years ago. It is a
play that is immortal, and to-
day, after fifty years, it is more
timely then ever.
Moishe Oysher, the world's
greatest living cantor, will enact
the title role. He will be as-
sisted by an all-star cast of
Yiddish luminaries, notably Lud-
wig Satz, Michael Michalesko,
Celia Adler, Betty Siminoff and
Monachim Rubin, as well as a
large and distinguished chorus
and case numbering well over
a hundred. A big Symphony Or-
chestra, directed and conducted
by Joseph Rumshinsky.
Edwin A. Relkin is sponsoring
the revival. The production has
been staged by Isadore Cashier.
Tickets are now on sale at the
box office.
Kadia Malodsky, famous writer
and poet, who just completed
her new book "Fun Lublin Bizel
New York", will be the guest
speaker on Tuesday evening,
June 9, at the Sholom Aleichem
Folk Institute headquarters, 3751
Monterey, and sponsored by the
Sholom Aleichem Reading groups,
who are active in cultural and
educational studies, and also help
provide Yiddish education for
Jewish boys and girls.
These reading groups also as-
sist Jewish refugee authors and
help support the Kinder Journal,
Yiddish Scientific Institute,
Teachers'
Seminary,
Detroit's
Jewish Library, and all Jewish
cultural platforms. Luncheon
and bridge will be given on
Wednesday, June 10, at 1 p. m.,
in Kerns' Auditorium, for the
benefit of the children's agen-
cies.
