The Shaarey Zedek Synagogue
was the scene of a beautiful
wedding when Bernice Acker-
man, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Ackerman of 193 Mc-
Lean St. became the bride of
Wilfred Lester Katz, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Katz of
Pennington Drive. Rabbi Adler
officiated.
The bride was lovely in a
gown of ivory lace and car-
ried a prayer book and orchids.
The wedding party consisted
of Mrs. M. B. Cooper as matron
of honor, Miss Marilyn Katz,
maid of honor, and the brides-
maids, Misses Zeta Blair, Ber-
nice Gentz, Dorothy Ackerman,
Margie Cooper. Junior brides-
maid, Barbara Krause. Bruce
Parker was ring bearer and
Gail Cooper, flower girl.
Donald Katz acted as best
man for his brother, and the
ushers were Albert Katz, Fred
Mulch, Paul Bihari, Alfred Ac-
kerman and William Boone.
Mrs. Ackerman was gowned
in flowered chiffon and wore
orchids. Mrs. Katz wore a rose
lace gown and her corsage was
of orchids.
Dinner and reception followed
the ceremony.
Among the out of town
guests were Mr. and Mrs. Marko-
witz, Pittsburgh; Saul Guder,
New York; Miss Mollie Marko-
witz, Munhall, Pa.; Mr. and
Mrs. Leo Kauffman and son,
McKeeserock, Pa.

baum of Ilar•ison, N. Y. an-

daughter, Marjorie, to Gerald
M. Schaflander, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Schaflander of De-
troit.
Both Miss Polumbaum and Mr.
Schaflander are graduating se-
niors at the University of Michi-
gan.
Miss Polumbaum was accounts
manager of the Gargoyle, mem
ber of the League Council and
is a member of Mortarboard and
the Senior Society.
Mr. Schaflander, formerly a
sports night editor of the Michi-
gan Daily and a contributor to
the Gargoyle literary staff, is a
member of Alpha Nu, "M" Club,
and the varsity tennis team.
In their honor, Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Schaflander will be at
