Nazis Establish Factories
In Polish Ghettos

STOCKHOLM (WNS) — Re-
ports that Germany is facing an
actual shortage of skilled labor
necessary for the production of
army supplies were confirmed by
the Krakauer Zeitung, Nazi pub-
lication reaching here which re-
ported that an increasing num-
ber of factories have been es-
tablished in the ghettos in Nazi-
occupied Poland.
Making use of Jewish skilled
labor, these factories pay star-
vation wages but mete out dras-
tic punishment to those failing
to produce the required quota,
according to the Nazi newspaper
which added that a system of
bonuses has been instituted to
stimulate greater efforts.
Five large factories were es-
tablished in the Warsaw ghetto
last month to meet the situa-
tion which threatens an acute
shortage of supplies for the
armies fighting on the eastern
front, the report disclosed. One
factory employs 3,500 Jews for
the manufacture of textiles for
army use, while another using
1,500 skilled furriers is busy on
the production of fur articles.
All manufactured materials are
transported to a central ware-
house, recently erected in the
ghetto, where they are assembled
and sent to the different army
posts.
