DETROIT JEWISH CHRONICLE and the Legal Chronicle

Featured at Club Sari Diego

Emilio Caceres, "World's Hottest Violinist," and his new
Victor Recording Orchestra, are smashing attendance records on
their current engagement at Club San Diego. The band's out-
standing dance arrangements have won national favor. The Emilio
Caceres Trio, featuring Emilio and his "hot" violin, are also a
part of the club's entertaining floor shows which are presented
twice nightly.

Kashruth Committee
Plans for Future

At a meeting of the Detroit
Committee for Kashruth, held
April 15 at the Congregation
Bnai Zion, Humphrey and IN-
mur, the assembled representa-
tives of Detroit Congregations
and other interested parties rati-
fied the continuance in office of
the present executive committee
for a further six months. Hereto
the executive functioned as a
provisional body, and this was
the first formal election. A board
of directors for the Committee
for Kashruth was also officially
brought into being. An annual
budget of $1,000 was adopted to
meet the expenses of the com-
mittee, the sum to be raised by
congregational levy. It was also
decided to work out a formula
to give proper representation to
shochtim and kosher butchers on
the board. Executive reports of
the work done to date were read,
with especial emphasis on the
achievements in the field of Pass-
over kashruth.

Vaad Hayeshivoth Warns
Against Unauthorized
Solicitors

The Vaad HaYeshivoth,
(Michigan committee for the
support of Yeshivoth and reli-
g i o u s charitable institutions),
has issued a warning to the pub-

lic to be on guard against
fraudulent or unauthorized so-
licitations. In order to protect
itself, the public is urged to re-
quest the credential of the Vaad
HaYeshivoth from every one so-
liciting funds for religious chari-
table institutions.
The Vaad HaYeshivoth, whose
board of directors is made up
of representative Michigan Jew-
ish leaders, investigates every
institution and the character of
its collectors before issuing a
credential. All money collected
by responsible collectors is de-
posited with the Vaad HaYeshi-
voth, which arranges cable trans-
fer of funds directly to the cause
for whom the funds were in-
tended. The public can thus give
with confidence when the Vaad
HaYeshivoth stamp appears on
the face of the receipt.
