The technique of the discus-
sion is new this year which pre-
viously has been in the form of

The topic of the Panel Dis-
cussion is "The Place of the
Jew in the Post-War Peace Con-
ference." Thirty-five Hillel Foun-
dations and counselorships have
participated. This includes all
schools in the Big Ten as well
as other Universities from Can-
ada to Florida and from Yale
to California. Semi-finals were
held and the winners to com-
pete in the finals are:

and 3; Burton Williams, Ohio
State University, of District 2;
Fred Katzburg, University of
California, of District 4; Hal
Nappan, University of Alabama,
of District 5; Theodore Herman,

The panelists will receive from
the District they each represent
$25.00 United States Savings
Defense Bonds and the final win-

Hillel Plaque.
The panelists are graded in-
dividually on, (1) knowledge of
the subjects (2) ability to co-
operate, (3) clear analysis, (4)
diction and felicity of phrase,
(5) platform noise.

Orchestra, on Tuesday evening,
April 21, at the Jewish Commu-
nity Center, Woodward at Hol-
brook Ayes. The all-Beethoven
program, to be played on this
occasion, will mark the fifth
and final performance of the
Center's spring concert series.
Hailed by critics the world
over as a concert pianist of first
quality, Mr. Chajes is equally
well known as a composer. Born
in Lemberg, Poland, his first
piano recital was given at the

will be held at Congregation Beth

Woodrow Wilson Avenues, Detroit,
Sunday, May 3, and is to be ad-
dressed by the distinguished guest
of American Jewry, Rabbi Dr.
Isadore Goodman of London,
England, assistant to British
Chief Rabbi Dr. Joseph H. Hertz.

also attend the executive sessions
at 3:30 p. m., where reports of
activities will be presented, and
officers elected for the ensuing

year.
Michigan Synagogue Conference
was founded a little over three
years ago at the first state-wide
meeting of representatives of tra-
ditional, orthodox congregations
which took place in Bay City.
Semi-annual conventions have been
held regularly since then, in ad-
dition to regional conferences and
quarterly meetings of the Board
of Directors. The Vaad Ha-Ke-
hilloth has branched out into var-
ious fields of activity, including
religious work on the University
of Michigan campus, initiation of
the local Sabbath Observance
Movement, establishment of the
Michigan Committee for Support
of Yeshivoth and Religious-Chari-
table Institutions (Vaad Ha-Yoshi-
