Jewish Juniors to Close
Drive With Tea-Dance

Marking "finis" to the 1941- Of "Doresh Zion"
42 membership drive, the Na-
tional Council of Jewish Jun-
iors, Detroit Section, will climax
its activities for the month of
March , with a membership tea-
dance, to be held Sunday after-
noon, March 22, at the Pan-
American Club, 30 E. Columbia.
The 163 members of Junior
Council, hostesses at the dance
which will begin at 3:30 p.
will have as their guests mem-
bers of the Coast Guard and the
Army, Navy and Marine Corps,
as well as many local men.
Prior to the dance, the young
women of the Detroit Section
of Junior Council will hold a
brief business meeting at which
plans for the forthcoming port
and dock drive will be discussed.
Present plans provide for an
individual earning campaign
which will end with a victory
party at the conclusion of the
drive in the latter part of April
or early in May.
Young women will be admit-
ted to the business meeting, at
3 p. m., and the dance which Pil-
lows, only upon presentation of
a full paid 1942 membership
card of the National Council of
Jewish Juniors.
An open invitation is extended
to all service men in the vicinity
of Detroit to attend the dance.

Naftali Lohr, well known Pal-
estinian writer and publisher,
arrived here last week on a mis-
sion of social importance. Mr.
Lohr is one of the founders of
the Tel Aviv daily "Haaretz,"
and was its manager for a pe-
riod of 15 years. Ile was also
the publisher of the Jerusalem
"Door' HaYom". He is well
known for his writings in both
Hebrew and Yiddish. Since his
arrival on this side of the At-
lantic he has been appointed
assistant editor of the Canadian
News of Toronto.
Mr. Lohr is in Detroit on be-
half of "Doresh Zion," a Jeru-
salem institution for the educa-
tion of destitute and neglected
children. The institute provides
sustenance, medical care and
clothing for its children. It is
interesting to note that Chief
Rabbi Uzziel, head of the Se-
phardic Jewish community of
Palestine, studied at this school.
Before the war the institute was
financed through the Rothschilds
of England and the efforts of
Chief Rabbi Hertz of the Brit-
ish Empire. Since the war all
funds come from the United
States and Canada.

Rabbi Herbert Goldstein, Rev.

berg is secretary and Louis P.
Rocker, treasurer of the Zionist
Organization of America, is also
treasurer of "Doresh Zion".

The annual congregational
Seder of Temple Beth El will be
held on Thursday evening, April
2, at 6:30 p. in., in the Social
Ilall of the Temple. The Seder
meal will be prepared by a new
caterer under the direction of
the Temple Sisterhood. The Se-
der ritual will be conducted by
Dr. Glazer. This will be Dr.
Glazer's first Seder at the Tem-
ple.
The music will be directed by
Mr. Galvani, accompanied at the
piano by Mr. Tickton. The chil-
dren of the Religious School will
participate in the ritual and
songs, and will be given special
treats.
Reservations will be limited
to members of the Temple, their
