Streets, Monday, March 2, at
5:15 p. m.
Rabbi Herman Rosenwasser
will be in charge. Preceding the
traditional intonation of the
Scroll of the Biblical Book of
Esther, a brief interpretation of
this historic festival will be
offered by the Rabbi.

Palestinian Dancer and Dramatic Interpreter
to Appear in Purim Program March 3

Arlazaroff Branch 137 of the
Jewish National Workers Alli-
ance will hold installation of
officers on March 8 at 6 p. m.
in the Educational Center, 11529
Linwood Ave. Dinner will be
served. A musical and cultural
program will be presented by
nationally prominent persons.
Morris Schaver is the new pres-
ident. Louis Levin is the new

has been active in work for

Schwarz is a graduate of Hunter

Beach, Fla., to spend the next

Joseph Morris and Erwin Sher-
man have returned home after
a two-weeks' vacation in Florida.

The efforts of the Jewish
Agency to secure immigration
permits on account of the cur-
rent quota for the group of 800
refugees stranded on board the
steamer Struma, anchored for
several weeks in Istanbul wat-
ers after traveling for months,
have proved unsuccessful. All
that the Palestine Government
would agree to was the admis-
sion of a score or more of refu-
gee children aged 11 to 16 who
are on the Struma. These will
be part of the group in Rumania
and Hungary for whom Govern-
mental consent was obtained.

eral Purim selections in his

This joint recital will be the
second in the series of Yiddish
lecture concerts, sponsored joint-
ly by the Cultural Section of
the Jewish Community Council
and by the Jewish Community
Center. The third in this series
will be a reception for and ad-
dress by Dr. Solomon Bickle,
leading Yiddish publicist and
orator, newly arrived from Pol-
and. Dr. Bickle's address will
be given on Tuesday, March 10,
also in the auditorium of the
Jewish Community Center.
Miss Naomi Aleh-Leaf, who
appeared before a highly en-
thusiastic audience in Detroit
last year, has been gaining in-
creasingly great acclaim from
dance critics for her contribu-
tions in the development of the
Jewish dance. Her suppleness of
body and radiance of interpre-
tation have received the acclaim

in the Museum of Modern Art
in New York. B. H. Haggin
called this concert the best of
the series. Virgil Thompson
said, "Miss Noami Aleh-Leaf is
a supple dancer with lovely feet
and a radiant visage. The eve-
ning was one of great charm
and simplicity." "The Dance Ob-
server" stated that "she was
always a graceful and compel-
ling figure," and Walter Terry
remarked that "Noami Aleh-Leaf
in the traditional dances of the
Jewish people was thoroughly
delightful."
Miss Leaf will be accompanied
at the piano by Otto Gruen-
baum, noted young pianist from
Vienna.
Mr. Strugach has been re-
ceiving wide acclaim from crit-
ics of Yiddish dramatic perform-
ances. His recitations, chanting,
and dramatic interpretations are
of a high order of achievement,
and he holds his audiences spell-
bound.
The admission fee to the con-
cert will be 55 cents.

(laughter of Mrs. L. Feldman
of this city, who on March 1 is
to become the bride of Dr. II.

mother, Mrs. David Diamond,
