MRS. MAXWELL H. EMMER

Former President of
Panama to Address
Fisher Town Hall

Dr. Ricardo Alfaro, former
president of Panama, will discuss
"The Solidarity and Defense of
the Americas" before the De-
troit Town Hall audience in the
Fisher Theater, Wednesday, Feb.
25, at 11 a. m.
Dr. Alfaro predicted recently
that should Germany conquer
Britain, Hitler would not at-
tempt an invasion of the United
States, but would attack Latin
America.
The Latin American authority
on international law feels that
Hitler's probable policy would
be to set up a puppet state in
South America, then attempt to
destroy our foreign commerce
by cutting off the flow of raw
materials from the South.
For that reason he feels no
nation in the Western Hemi-
shere dares think only in terms
of its own territory.

The committee on the Educa-
tion Month project of the United
Hebrew Schools, headed by Rabbi
Morris Adler, is functioning this
year as a permanent annual com-
mittee to be known as "The Com-
mittee on Educational Informa-
tion". It is the object of this
committee to acquaint the public,
not only with the immediate work
done by the schools, but to inter-
pret Jewish education in general.
A detailed plan has been pre-
pared by Rabbi Adler's commit-
tee, beginning with the arrange-
ment of a symposium for Purim,
on the subject "Education in War
Time". This symposium, which

will be participated in by several
leaders in the community, will
take place during the week of
Purim in the Rose Sittig Cohen
Building. Parents of the pupils
and the public at large will be
invited.
Plans have also been formulated
for the publication of a Parent-
Teachers' Association bulletin,
which will acquaint the parents
and the members of the United
Hebrew Schools, not only with
the formal work of the school,
but also with supplementary ac-
tivities, such as services held on
Saturdays, the various extra-
curricular activities, Hebrew clubs,
etc.
