Appeal and Rabbi Jonah B. Wise,
fund-raising chairman of the
Joint Distribution Committee, had
been elected to serve as the na-
tional chairmen of the 1942 United
Jewish Appeal for aid to victims
of war and oppression abroad,
for the upbuilding and defense of
the Jewish homeland in Palestine,
and for the adjustment of refu-
gees in the United States. The
United Jewish Appeal for Refu-
gees, Overseas Needs and Pales-
tine will be the single fund-rais-
ing instrument in 1942 to meet
the wartime needs of the Joint
Distribution Committee, United
Palestine Appeal and National
Refugee Service.
