There will be a special service
at Congregation Shaarey Zedek
Friday evening, Jan. 20, in com-
m emoration of the 1000th anniver-
sary of the death of the Gaon
Saadiah, Rabbi Morris Adler will
read a prayer composed by Saa-
diah and Cantor Jacob H. Sonen-
klar will render appropriate se-
lections.
Junior Congregation
The Sabbath service of the Jun-
ior Congregation of Shaarey Ze-
dek will be held Jan. 24, at 9:30
a. m., in the Prayer Room of
the Kate Frank Memorial Bldg.
Elaine Bensman will give the Bib-
lical resume, while Dale Berger
will review the Prophetical por-
tion.

M. Neuenfelt of the Wayne Cir-
cuit Court, Rabbi Morris Adler
of Congregation Shaarey Zedek
and Max Edwards, honorary alum-
nus of the Philomathic, will of-
ficiate.
Six of Philomathic's eloquent
students Isaac Green, Arnold
Glovinsky, Bernard Rosenberg, Al-
bert Kramer, Samuel Schwartz
and Miles Meyerson—will com-
pete for the gold, silver and bronze
medals, the awards in oratory,
given by Herman August and
Maurice Morse, both honorary
speakers and alumni of the Philo-
mathic.
The 28th annual oratorical con-
test is to be held at the Jewish
Community Center on Jan. 29, at
8:15 p. m. Everyone ;s invited.
There is no charge for admission.
