HENRY FORD".
Urged to Take Legal Action
Against Those Using His Name
bow Room with
Henry Ford has been asked by
L. M. Birkhead, national director
of Friends of Democracy, Inc.,
to take legal action against all
persons who continue to distrib-
ute a Ford publication "The In-
ternational Jew", which the motor
magnate repudiated in 1927.
"Your letter of Jan. 7, repu-
diating your former support of
anti-Semitism, is a great service
to the forces fighting for democ-
racy, for, as you pointed out in
your letter, anti-Semitism has
teen used `to divide our American
community and to weaken our
national unity,'" Birkhead said
in a telegram to Ford.
But, Birkhead added, "You can
give real meaning to your state-
ment by taking legal steps to
prevent the further use of your
name on anti-Semitic literature."
Birkhead pointed out that "The
International Jew", which was
published by Ford in 1920, has
been one of the spearheads of
the Nazi propaganda campaign
throughout the world. Currently
it is being distributed by the
Ku Klux Klan in the form of a
series of pamphlets which carry
Ford's name on the cover.
