supper last Sunday night in the
social hall of Temple Beth El.

chairmen of the Sisterhood of

Due to increased business and
the necessity to serve its many

west area, the Flower Box now
has a second shop at 19131 Liver-
nois, off 7-Mile Road, especially
built. and equipped to please peo-
ple of discriminating taste.
Bess Rosenman, who has made
many friends through her under-
standing of floral problems, and
whose anxiety to satisfy has made
her services invaluable to the
patrons of the present shop, will
manage the Livernois Flower Box.
She will be happy to consult
with anyone regarding the floral
problems that arise in wedding
decorations, individual house par-
ty arrangements, etc., and in-
vites a telephone call at Univer-
sity 3-6638, which will bring her
to patrons homes.
Robert Brown, who is known
to hosts - of Detroit people for
his creative designs, will continue
to please particular customers in
his capacity as designer. The
shop is filled with novelty house
plants and gardens to add to the

SHELVIN DIES

NEW YORK (JPS) — Ber-
nard Shelvin, veteran Yiddish
journalist, active Zionist, He-
braist and music critic, died here
at the age of 58. A member of
the editorial staff of the Jewish
Morning Journal since 1908, he
was recognized as one of the
foremost Yiddish journalists in
the United States. A former
newspaperman in London for
many years, he was an Associate
Editor of the London Jewish
Daily Express, after having
started on his newspaper career
as London correspondent of Hat-
zofeh, Hebrew daily in Warsaw.

A number of women's organ-
izations and sisterhoods have ac-
cepted the invitation of the La-
dies of Yeshivath Beth Yehudah
to participate in the donor lunch-

writer and speaker, is being sent '
here in the interests of "Yivo"
(Jewish Scientific Institute).
The campaign for the "Yivo"
will again be led by M. Elkin,
who will also be present at the
evening at which Mr. Menes will •
be the guest speaker.
As in previous years, the drive
will be carried on with the help
of the Workman's Circle, Jewish
National Worker's Alliance and
the Sholem Aleichem Folks In-
stitute.

Members of the local Detroit
Chapter of Rho Pi Phi, Jewish
pharmaceutical fraternity, have
completed annual •initiation at
Wayne University. The newly in-
ducted members were Leo Gran-
don, Abraham Reichmann and
Martin Winokur. The members
and members of the faculty of the
College of Pharmacy had a ban-
quet at Northwood Inn last Sun-
day evening. Rho Pi Phi is the
only international Jewish fra-
ternity of its kind, having chap-
ters both in the United States
and Canada.
