The Detroit Round Table of
Catholics, Jews and Protestants
will present one of its members,
Dr. Preston W. Slosson, profes-
sor of European history at the
University of Michigan, in a pub-
lic lecture at the Detroit Insti-
tute of Arts on Thursday eve-
ning, Nov. 27, at 8:15 o'clock.
Dr. Slosson's subject will be:
"Europe's Minorities and the
Refugee Problem." The meeting
is open to the public with no
admission charge.

The North Woodward branch
of the Jewish Women's European
Welfare Organization is complet-
ing plans for the ninth annual
donor luncheon scheduled for
Tuesday, Dec. 2, 12:30 p. m., in

The Bnai Moshe . Sisterhood's
annual Chanukah ball will be
held Sunday, Dec. 7. Mrs. Harry
Meer, chairman of the affair, and
Mrs. Irwin. Sims, her assistant, re-
ported that the committee en-
listed the ,,support of the Young
People's SoCiety at a tea-dance,
at the residence of Mr. and Mrs.
Morris Weinstein. Nov. 9.
The Sisterhood has also sched-
uled a Chanukah supper and card
party to be held in the synagogue
social hall, Sunday eve., Dec. 21.

The Young People's Society of
Shaarey Zedek will meet Sun-
day, Nov. 23, at 3:30 p. m., at
the synagogue.

constitution was the main sub-
ject of the meeting, with Dr.

This year, carried along by the
enthusiasm and hard work of
chairman Max Loewenstein, the
Boy Scout troops of Temple Beth
El have already had more activity
than they have ever seen before
in a like period, and plans for
the future are even more impres-
sive.
Troop 76, under Scoutmaster
Dr. Felix F. Rosenwach, has two
new Assistant Scoutmasters, Jerry
Krause and Stanley Dorfman.
Troop 78, under Scoutmaster
A. S. Rothschild, reports that
Assistant Scoutmaster Genrick
Sirvis is still on the job regu-
larly.
The troops have a new camp
location, on a site donated by
Max Loewenstein on the Loewen-
stein Farm near Mt. Clemens.
Two hikes have akready been
made to camp, on Nov. 2 and 16,
and another is promised for Nov.
30. The Temple has purchased
five new tents, to help make these
trip particularly enjoyable.
The handicraft workshop in the
Temple has been equipped with
many new tools. Melvin J. Kutt-
nauer, one of Detroit's outstand-
ing craftsmen and hobbyists. has
taken charge of the workshop.
The Scout Basketball Team is
being organized. Sam Gross will
act as coach.
Mr. Loewenstein is now work-
ing on plans to add both Senior
Scouting and Cub Scouting to the
Temple Snout activities. Meetings

dent of the Sisterhood of Congre-
gation Beth Tefilo Emanuel, an-
nounces that the organizat'on will
meet Monday afternoon, Nov. 4,
at the synagogue, Taylor and
Woodrow Wilson Ayes. Dessert-
luncheon will be served at 1 p. m.
and at 2 o'clock a Thanksgiving
program will be presented by
Mrs. M. J. Wohlgelernter and
Mrs. H. Schulsinger.
On Saturday afternoon, Nov.
29, a Sabbath tea for women
will be given. The program, pre-
sented in Yiddish by the com-
mittee of the Detroit Jewish
