Samuel H. Rubiner of the Cen-
ter's board of directors, has ac-
cepted the chairmanship of the
1941 Jewish Community Center
membership enrollment, which
opened Oct. 26 and will continue
through Nov. 26. Mr. Rubiner
has appointed Leon Wayburn his
associate chairman in charge of
publicity.
Associate chairman, Leon Way-
burn, who is also a member of
the Center's board of directors,
believes that members of the De-
troit Jewish community can be
made to realize their need of the
Center. Consequently, he has
chosen as the slogan for the en-
rollment period, "You Need the
Center—the Center Wants You."
The Center program runs all
year around, as does enrollment,
but this fall we are making a
special effort to stimulate mem-
berships.

ning a dance for Sunday evening

Two events are scheduled for
Sunday afternoon, Nov. 9. The
Mothers' Clubs of the Center will

its opening games during the af-

senior clubs of the Center, through
their respective councils and with
views on Monday evenings at the
Jewish Community Center is a
series of lectures on consumer
problems.

Representatives of every group
within the Center, from the in-
dividual clubs to the various
broad membership classifications,
are organizing teams of workers
to conduct, the personal solicitation
for members during the enroll-
ment period. They are also plan-
ning a series of special events to
be presented during the Enroll-
ment Month, on occasions when
open house will be held.
Inaugurating a week of open
house occasions to be held in con-
nection with the membership en-
rollment month at the Jewish
Community Center, Rabbi Leon
Fram will review "Berlin Diary"
by William Shirer, on Monday
evening, Nov. 3, at 8:30.
Book chats will be held at the
Center on alternate Monday eve-
nings during the entire season.
Arrangements for the book chats
at the Center are made in cooper-
ation with the Utley Branch of
the Public Library.
Those attending on Monday eve-
ning will have the opportunity of
participating in a guided tour
throughout the Jewish Commu-
nity Center building.
The public is invited to the
Tuesday evening, Nov. 4, open
house at the Center when the
Michigan WPA Symphony Or-
chestra will be heard in a pro-
gram conducted by Valter Poole,
with Robert S. Tulman, tenor, as
soloist.

Swimming Exhibition
A swimming exhibition, featur-
ing some of the finest aquatic
stars in the state, will be part
of the open house program at the
Jewish Community Center on
Wednesday evening, Nov. 5. The
exhibition is planned for 8 p. m.
and the public is invited to
gather in the spectators' gallery
of the Aaron DeRoy Natatorium.
Included in the large array of
champions seen Wednesday will
be Guy Lumsden, All-American
from Wayne University; Freeman
Flynn of Wayne University; Sol
Simon and Richard Savage, stars
of the Center Varsity, and, as an
added attraction, Tom Haynie of
the University of Michigan.

Sub-Senior Rally and Dance
In addition, on Wednesday eve-
ning, the sub-seniors plan to hold
a rally and dance at the Center.
The committee in charge includes
Miss Lorraine Schneider, chair-
man, and Larry Kopel, Ted Wet-
tenstein and Philip Burns.
The ,Thursday evening open
house program will feature a
Town Hall of the Air discussion
in which the public is invited
to participate before listening to
the nationally broadcast Town
Hall program heard in Detroit
over Station WXYZ at 9:15 p. m.
Saturday evening, the interme-
diate council at the Center, which
includes representatives f r o m
"Where Is My Child"
Is Now at Littman's
On Friday night, Sunday mati-
nee and night, also Tuesday
night, Oet. 31, Nov. 2 and 4, a
new. comedy drama, with music,
entitled "Where is my child?"
will be given at Littman's Peo-
ple's Theater, for the first time
in Detroit. This play has a repu-
tation of being a run at the
Brooklyn Hopkinson Theater for
150 consecutive performances to
capacity audiences.
The leading parts will be played
by Lily Lilliana, Leon Leibgold,
Abraham Lax, Ethel Dorf and
Mischa Fishzon, supported by a
distinguished cast of players.
The management of the thea-
te• is inaugurating a new policy,
and a new and different New
York success play will be pro-
duced every week-end.
