ROSH HASHONAH RADIO PROGRAM
ON WJR SUNDAY AFTERNOON

LADIES' AID SOCIETY

The United Jewish Appeal radio program on the occasion of
Rosh Hashonah, to be carried on a nationwide hook-up, will be
rebroadcast in Detroit on Station WJR, from 3 to 3:30 p. m.
this Sunday, Sept. 21.
The address on this program will be delivered by Dr. Stephen
S. Wise, national honorary chairman of the United Palestine Appeal
and president of the American Jewish Congress.
There will be synagogue music by an outstanding choir.

BAY CITY NOTES

Josh Magidson of North Lin-
coln Ave. entered Wayne Uni-
versity in Detroit to continue his
studies, having completed his
Junior College course here in
June.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sempliner
and daughter, Carolyn Jane, are
spending a few days in Chicago.
Irving B. Anthony, who recent-
ly enlisted in the Naval Re-
serves, has received orders to
report in New York on the USS
Prairie State on Thursday.
Rabbi Leon W. Rosenberg offi-
ciated in the ceremony read at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mor-
ris W. Goldberg, on North John-
son St. Sunday morning, when
their daughter, Miriam, became
the bride of Harold Birnkrant,
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Maurice T. Birnkrant of Detroit.
Sixty-five guests were present for
the rites. Mr. and Mrs. Birn-
krant left for a two weeks' trip
to New York City and Washing-
ton, D. C. before returning to
Bay City to make their home at
2161 Center Ave. after Oct. 1.

OBITUARY

REBECCA DAVIS FREEDMAN
of 3777 Sturtevant Ave., 70
years old, died on Sept. 15. Fu-
neral services were held on
Sept. 16 with burial in Clover
Hill Park Cemetery, Rabbi A. M.
Hershman officiating. She is sur-
vived by her husband, I arry ;
three sons, David, Alber and
Louis, and four (laughter , Mrs.
Fannie Strauss, Mrs. L ovitsky,
Mrs. Louis Gibbs and
rs. S. B.
Kahn.
