The training plane presented
for use in the defense of Palestine
and for the training of aviators in
the Jewish homeland by the Michi-
gan Linen Supply Board of Trade,
in honor of its honorary president,
Harry Schumer, will be flown to
Detroit by two trained Jewish
aviators who have completed their
course at the Hechalutz Training
School in Cream Ridge, N. J.
Ceremonies will take place at
12 noon on Sunday, Sept. 7, at
Hartung Aviation Field, Gratiot
and 101/2 Mile Road. After the
Detroit ceremonies, the plane will
be flown to Cincinnati for display
before delegates attending the an-
nual convention of the Zionist Or-
ganization of America.
It is the hope of the Hechalutz
Organization that a sum of $100,-
000 may be raised for Palestine
aviation purposes, and the move-
ment may be launched at the Zion-
ist convention.
A truck with a platform and
loud speaker will be set up on

the field for the ceremonies. Mr.
Schumer's name will be inscribed
on one of the wings of the plane.
On Saturday night preceding the
presentation ceremonies, a recep-
tion will be held at the home of
Mr. Schumer for the visiting avia-
tors and for leaders in the move-
ment to purchase this plane.
A sum of $3,000 has been con-
tributed by the Michigan Linen
Supply Board of Trade for this
purpose. Alex Nichamin, chair-
man of the organization, headed
the committee. Charles A. Chidsey
of the Banner Laundry, treasurer
of the organization, was treas-
urer of the committee and one of
the most active leaders in the
movement to honor Mr. Schumer.
Further details regarding the
presentation ceremonies will be an-
nounced next week. Detroit Jews
are urged to attend the ceremon-
ies en masse and to set aside
Sunday noon, Sept. 7, for par-
ticipation in this interesting event.
