Grave Shortage of Farm Labor-
ers Discussed at Meeting

FOX—Praised by critics and
record crowds as the first all-
laugh comedy hit of the new
season, Jack Benny's uproarious
portrayal of "Charley's Aunt"
is held over for a second week
at the Fox Theater. Held over
with "Charley's Aunt" is an
equally entertaining companion
picture, "Dance Hall".

JERUSALEM. — (JPS-Pacot')
—Recent enlistments of young
men in the armed forces have
created a grave labor shortage
in the kibbutzim (collective set-
tlements) of Palestine, it was
emphasized at a meeting of the
Council of the Kibbutz Ham-
euchad, an organization repre-
senting agricultural settlements
in all sections of the country.
The conference, held at the
settlement of Ayeleth Hashachar
in Upper Galilee, discussed the
problem in the mixed farming
colonies where a minimum of
5,200 additional laborers are re-
quired to carry out urgently
necessary tasks of construction
and harvesting.

UNITED ARTISTS—The fall
show season will open Thursday,
Aug. 28, at the United Artists
Theater, with the Detroit pre-
miere of Spencer Tracy as "Dr.
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". Co-star-
ring in this dramatic tale of dual
identity are Lana Turner and
Ingrid Bergman. Companion fea-
ture on the same program will
be "Dr. Kildare's Wedding Day"
with Lew Ayres, Lionel Barry-
more and Laraine Day.
