propaganda that has flooded
France for over a year is begin-
ning to rebound, according to Jay
Allen, in an article for North
American Newspaper Alliance, re-
viewing the experiences of the
famous American correspondent
who was ailed by the Germans for
four months on an espionage
charge and then released in ex-

"The German propaganda line
about a united Socialist Europe,
freed from the oppression of Brit-

weight," Allen writes, "because
the great mass of the population
are now convinced that, even if
the Germans were sincere, they
have proved themselves incapable
of organizing constructively in
the wake of their victorious
army."
Allen also declares that the
population of occupied France is
95 per cent hostile to the Germans
and that Frenchmen see the Ger-
mans as "bureaucratic as the
French, and far more corrupt."
