ment in Nazi and Soviet
Europe
Expressing solidarity with their
comrades in war-torn Europe,
the ninth national convention of
the Hashomer Hatzair movement,
meeting in Detroit, adopted a
resolution to establish a forest
dedicated to their fallen com-
rades and to the great numbers
of Jewish youth who continue
their Zionist activity illegally, in
Nazi and Soviet occupied Europe.
This forest is to be known as
the forest of the Underground
Movement. It will be undertaken
by the members of Hashomer
Hatzair in the United States,
Canada and Mexico. The forest
will be established on land to
be given by the Jewish National
Fund to the American Colony
"Ain Hashopet" in Palestine.
It will consist of a number of
groves, each representing a Eu-
ropean city in which there had
existed a branch of this Zionist
pioneer youth movement.

sion of the 1941 Allied Jewish
Campaign, whose work in the
annual drive is conducted under
the auspices of the Detroit Jun-
ior Service Group, Mr. Keidan
reported to the meeting that the
Junior Division had reached 97
per cent of its quota on 97 per
cent coverage of slips. With the
formation of an emergency squad
to cover all outstanding Junior
prospects, Mr. Keidan was con-
fident that the Junior Division
would report "Over the Top,"
within the coming week.
Other officers elected by the
Detroit Junior Service Group
board for the coming year were:
David A. Goldman, first vice-
president; Samuel L. Travis, sec-
ond vice-president; Miss Rodelle
Broder, recording secretary; Miss
Ann Brooks, corresponding secre-
tary and Albert L. Lieberman,
treasurer.
In accordance with the by-laws
of the Junior Group, 13 directors
are elected each year for a two-
yea• period, and the officers are
elected by the 26 board members.
The following 10 new board mem-
bers were elected to serve as di-
rectors at the last meeting of the
entire Detroit Junior Service
