the sermon of the seventh day
of Passover, at Temple Beth El,
Friday morning, April 18, at
10:30. His subjest will be: "The
New Egypt and the New Exo-
dus."
Parents are invited to come to
this service, which will be held
in the main auditorium of the
Temple, with their children.
George Galvani and a special
quartet will render the musical
background of the service.
While Orthodox Jews observe
the Festival of Passover for eight
days, Reform Jews regard the
seventh day as the closing day.
Selections from the "Song of
Songs of Solomon" are read in
observance of Passover as a
spring festival, and the "Song of
Moses," from the Book of Exo-
dus, is read in observance of
Passover as the anniversary of
the Exodus from Sgypt.
The choir will sing the "Hal-
lelujah" psalms, and the congre-
gation will sing special Passover
hymns.

Picture an Italian, a Spaniard,
a Polish or any other Christian
serviceman approaching a rabbi,
in a southern camp, with a salu-
tation, "I enjoyed your sermon;
Good Shabbas, Rabbi," and you
have a frequent factual occur-
rence at the Temple in Beaure-
gard, La., whose rabbi, Dr. Al-
bert D. Baum, is also the repre-
sentative of the Jewish Welfare
Board.
Stories of the magnificent
treatment given Jewish service-
men at Beauregard, and inciden-
tally also to their non-Jewish
friends, were related here this
week by Harold Norman, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Louis E. Norman
of the Barium Harold, a
past master of Perfection De-
Molay Lodge, who was here on
a 10-day furlough, is stationed
at Camp Beauregard, U. S. Air
Port, with 107th Observation
Corp. There are between 300 and
500 Jewish men in the service
there, and it is expected that
their number will increase to
1,000.
Harold Norman, who was one
of the organizers of the Jewish
Service Club, is full of admira-
tion for Rabbi Baum, William
Hockbaum and Morris Weiss,
president and vice-president of
the Temple, and their associates
who have gone out of their way
to entertain the soldiers. On one
occasion, 150 of them were en-
tertained at a dinner and show.
There is open house for them
at the Temple, weekly dances on
Sundays, dates are arranged with
co-eds at nearby colleges, kosher
food is provided and nothing is
left undone to make the boys
happy and to get them to feel at
home.
"I hope the southern boys com-
ing here will be treated as well
as we are in the south," Norman
said. He stated that there is ab-
solutely no prejudice in the Army,
that there are many Jewish of-
ficers, that anti-Semitism is un-
known.
