Detroit Jews are urged to en-
courage exchange of trade be-
tween Palestine and the United
States by buying these products
and making it possible in the
future to have the Carmel pro-
ducts placed on sale again in
Michigan as a result of popular
demand.

cuit Judge, he served for sev-
eral terms as Circuit Court Com-

FRANK FITZGERALD
Judgeship at the election on
Monday.
Mr. Fitzgerald was nominated
at the Primaries on Feb. 17 and
his vote indicated that he has
retained the large following he
has built for himself in Wayne
County in the 1940 elections,
when he was the Democratic
candidate for United States Sen-
ator. In the November 1940
election, Judge Fitzgerald polled
nearly 1,000,000 votes, indicating
the widespread popularity he has
acquired in Michigan, and more
especially in Wayne County.
Since that time, he has been
named Circuit Court Commis-
sioner, the post he now holds.
Frank Fitzgerald was born in
Holyoke, Mass., in 1897. Ile was
educated in the public schools
of that city. In 1917 he entered
the University of Detroit Law
School, and in 1918 he enlisted
in the U. S. Army and spent
that year in the Pioneer Entree
in Camp Wadsworth in Spartens-
burg, S. C.
Upon his discharge from the
Army he re-entered the U. of D.
Law School and was admitted
to the Bar in 1922. He became
associated with William Henry
Gallagher shortly thereafter and
has remained in the Gallagher law
firm since. During that time he
was also professor of law at the
U. of D., and was active in
alumni affairs.
An opponent of all intolerance
and a staunch defender of racial
and religious freedom, Mr. Fitz-
gerald is an outspoken opponent
of all attempts to curtail the lib-
erties of any groups.
It is announced by the execu-
tive board of the New York
United Yeshivos Foundation that
II. L. Selig, executive director
of the foundation, has also been
appointed chairman of its central
board of education.
al Seder will be held. The ritual
will be read by Dr. Franklin
and Rabbi Fram and the tradi-
tional Seder music will be under
the direction of George Galvani.
A splendid Passover meal will
be served under the auspices of
the Temple Sisterhood.
On Friday evening, April 11,
the late Sabbath Eve service will
not take place because it would
interfere with the home service
held by many members of the
Temple. However, in its stead
there will be a brief Passover
Eve service at 5:30 that evening,
to which all are invited.
