Great McGinty) Sturges does it
again in "The Lady Eve", roman-
tic comedy on the Michigan
screen, with a brilliant cast that
stars Barbara Stanwyck and
Henry Fonda. On the same pro-
gram is another picture that hits
the top brackets, "The Penalty"
starring Edward Arnold, Lionel
Barrymore, Gene Reynolds and
Vida Ann Borg.
UNITED ARTISTS — Mickey
Rooney and the Hardy family in
"Andy Hardy's Private Secre-
tary" opened on Thursday at the
United Artists with a singing
newcomer in the cast, Kathryn
Grayson, who makes her debut as

program is The Wild Man of

in the bride's home with Rabbi
L. M. Franklin officiating. The
reception was held at North-
wood Inn.

Miss Gertrude Jacobs, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Jacobs
of Hazelwood Ave., and Dr. Sey-
mour Lipsitt, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Lipsitt of Roseville,
Mich., were united in marriage
at noon in the Crystal Ballroom
of the Book-Cadillac Hotel on
March 30. Rabbi Morris Adler
performed the marriage cere-
mony which was followed by a
luncheon for the guests.
Mrs. Jack Kurland, cousin of
the bride, was the matron-of-
honor.
The bridegroom was attended
by his brother, Harvey Lipsitt,
as best man. The ushers were
brothers of the bride, Martin and
Sidney Jacobs.
After the reception which fol-
lowed the luncheon Dr. and Mrs.
Lipsitt left for a honeymoon in
Cuba and Florida.
Among the guests were Mrs.
Rose Lipsitt, Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Cole,
Dr. and Mrs. Sam Pearlman, Dr.

concluded its five days of deliber-
ations with the adoption of a
resolution pledging full aid to all
nations resisting totalitarian ag-
gression. Mr. Monsky was re-
elected by a unanimous vote.
Bnai Brith's national triennial
convention "heartily endorsed the
program of aid for the British
civil population" and called upon
its 150,000 members throughout
the United States "to continue
and amplify their support of and
response to this appeal".

Urge Election of
Oren A. Johnson
to Recorder's Court

The election of Oren A. John-
son as Judge of the Recorder's
Court is being urged by a group
of his friends and supporters.
A former assistant Prosecuting
Attorney, Mr. Johnson is a pre-
ferred candidate of the Detroit
Citizen's League.
He has been a resident of the
city of Detroit for the past 22
years and is a world war vet-
eran. He is also a former school
teacher. His friends point to his
record as a prosecutor and his
success as a trial examiner in
pointing out his qualifications for
the post he seeks.
Mr. Johnson is broad and tol-
erant in his views. He is a good
friend of the Jewish people and
his candidacy is being supported
by some of the most prominent
Jewish lawyers and citizens of
Detroit.
