Budgeting Proposal Doomed to Defeat as 44
Communities, Including Detroit, Reject It
The Committee on the Referen-
dum for Budgeting, of which
Simon Shetzer of Detroit is chair-
man, this week stated that it has
assurances that the proposal for
the formation of a national ad-
visory committee on budgeting is
doomed to defeat.
In addition to Detroit, whose
Jewish Welfare Federation has
rejected the plan on March 25
by a vote of 14 to 8, 43 other
communities have voted against
the proposal of the majority of
the Council of Federations and
Welfare Funds.
The communities which voted
thus far are: Bridgeport, Wat-
