Lives

The American Legion has es-
tablished a "blood bank" at Henry
Ford Hospital to create a reserve
blood supply for use in any emer-
gency, either local or national, it
was revealed by George C. Dol-
lar, community service chairman
of the Detroit Districts Associa-
tion of the Legion.
In an appeal to Legionnaires,
their families and friends to each
donate a pint of blood, Mr. Dol-
lar pointed out that the blood
bank will serve to establish a
list of blood donors who will be
available to all veterans and their
families, to patients unable to
pay for the services of a profes-
sional donor and for cases in
which donors of certain type are
not available.
Henry Ford hospital is draw-
ing, typing, testing, storing and
dispensing this blood without
charge. Persons who wish to
donate blood are asked to report
to Dr. F. W. Hartmen at the
hospital between 9 a. m. nd 5
p. m. any day except Sunday. A
telephone call for an appointment
will avoid delay.
