"A FUEL WITHOUT A FAULT" Of all the stories written about Adolf Hitler, his habits and be- havior, Pauline Kohler's "The Woman Who Lived in Hitler's House," published by Sheridan House, 386 Fourth Ave., New York, is one of the most strik- ing revelations. The author landed into a maid's job at Berchtesgaden straight from a concentration camp. Her parents disappeared because of their social demo- cratic views. Her husband land- ed in a concentration camp shortly after they were married as a result of an act of jealousy on the part of a fellow worker. Slander of the Fuehrer • was the charge against her. Upon her release, her experiences read like a fairy tale. There is a succes- sion of intrigue, immorality, ter- rorism. The habits of the Nazis, and especially Hitler himself, lead the reader to believe that the head of the German state is a maniac. Hitler's astrologer, Karl Os- Parkside School Serves North End Branch of United Hebrew Schools Redecorated; Children Elect Officers sietz, has great influence over him, we are told. Hitler is de- scribed as superstitious, and as constantly consulting the stars. According to Miss Kohler, the stories about Hitler's poor health are true. Also, she confirms rumors that there are three Hit- ler doubles who occasionally sub- stitute for him. The brutality of Goebbels, Goering and other Nazi leaders is revealed in this interesting story. Goebbels is quoted as having said, upon returning from a drive dur- ing which he killed an elderly man, "that was the most pleas- ant afternoon's driving I have ever done." IIitler's love affairs, exposed in "The Woman Who Lived in Hitler's House," include the tor- turing. of Geli Raubal, Hitler's niece, who committed suicide; Renate Muller, who had the mis- fortune of having fallen in love with a young Jew, and who was also forced to suicide by the constant watch kept over her by the Gestapo; Jenny Jugo, who was first Goebbels' mistress and then became Hitler's mistress; Leni Riefenstahl, Eva Braun, Frauelein Kirstner and others. Miss Kohler writes: "One rea- son I was glad to leave Berch- tesgaden was to escape from the feverish morbidity of its atmo- sphere—largely caused by these strange love-affairs." The story of this woman in captivity in Hitler's home, who later managed to escape to Paris where she was rejoined by her husband who likewise escaped from concentration camp, is an interesting explanation of the in- sane background of Hitler and his cohorts. The Parkside Hebrew Schools, located at Parkside and Midland, recently has been completely decorated and painted within and without. This school serves not o n 1 y the immediate Fenkell neighborhood, but also the peo- ple who live north of Puritan in the Six, and Seven and Eight Mile Road sections, as well as the section west of Livernois. Plans are now being completed for the extention of the bus serv- ice in order to fully accommo- date those who live in the new sections. For information in con- nection with these services, please call Townsend 8-0063. The pupils of the Parkside School have organized their own school goyernment.
