Covering a range of subjects
of interest to communal leaders
in many fields, the ,various ses-
sions included in the conferences
held simultaneously by the East
Central States Region of the
Council of Jewish Federations
and Welfare Funds, and the Mid-
west--Section of the Jewish Wel-
fare Board, in Indianapolis last
week-end, provided stimuli to the
delegates for progressive work
in their own communities.
The East Central States Re-
gion consists of Jewish commu-
nities in Ohio, Indiana, Ken-
tucky, Michigan, West Virginia
and western Pennsylvania. De-
troiters elected to the executive
board of the region for 1940-
1941 are: Irving W. Blumberg,
Clarence H. Enggass, Mrs. Jos-
eph H. Ehrlich, Charles Rubiner,
Simon Shetzer and Abraham
Srere.
Discussed at the sessions in
Indianapolis were problems of
refugee resettlement in both
large and small communities;
public relations in the general
field; budgeting and expending
the communities' dollars; local
programs; the development of
community harmony and the pro-
grams of Jewish youth groups.
Julian H. Krolik, Theodore Levin,
Isidore Sobeloff, Charles Rubiner,
Simon Shetzer, Harold Silver,
William I. Boxerman, M. William
Weinberg, Max Luchs and Her-
man Pekarsky, all of Detroit,
participated as chairmen, secre-
taries and discussants at the ses-
sions.
