The Detroit Sholem Aleichem Institute is arranging a special reception for the eminent Jewish writer, H. Leavic, on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Workmen's Cir- cle, on the occasion of the pub- lication of the first books of the complete edition of his works. H. Leavic occupies a singular position in Yiddish literature, and during the past 25 years rose to a position of prominence among Yiddish writers. On the occasion of the present visit of the artist, an elaborate program of distinguished artists will be brought forth and pre- pared by the Sholem Aleichem Institute. The highlight of the evening will be the reading of an unpublished poem of H. Lea- vie, "Ballad of Hopes," and the general public and intellectual Yiddish speaking public is in- vited to participate in this cele- bration.
